Also check your security settings too. Our neighbor had a dialup e-mail and then went to Embarq too. She could never get her embarq to work, and finally we figured out that her security settings with the dialup service wouldn't allow the embarq access.

You'd be a lot better off just having the Embarq e-mail, in my opinion, but to each his own.

Up until this weekend I've been using outlook express as my email client to check email on a dial up internet account ( at&t ).

I just got embarc DSL installed. Was a piece of cake to get internet explorer to find the internet over the lan vs a dial in connection.. Outlook claims to 'share' connection settings with explorer.. and even shows 'any available connection' in the config box. Also shows 'network' when checking email.. however it never does connect.. says no port is available. I can still read my AT&T email via web mail.. but would love to have my email client back.. any ideas?

( and thanks to all who have replied in trying to help. I used to be up on computers.. but byt he time dos was giving away to win-95.. I was out of the industry and it was harder to keep up/in touch with the technology . I'm much more comfortable and at home with a CLI and bare iron vs a GUI and 'blueberry' colored plastic stuff these days.. )

As all the good advice said.. you DO have to use 2 different ports when connection via another ISP.. I'm going to try it out tonight to see if that fixed it.
