Lots of political prisoners in Canada, Australia, NZ, UK, Norway, Sweden, Germany, etc etc???

All highly restricted or non gun areas. "Political prisoner" is that another word for madman with a gun or what?

And since you only wanted to object to that one paragraph, and dismiss the part about mental reporting: How many of the mass shooters were judged mentally incompetent or had behavioral problems? Like I said, attack the real problem.

Could a Dr. be held responsible, if his mentally ill patient killed someone? Is the impaired patient required to sign a wavier or something for misdiagnosis or wrong meds causing the patient's aberrant behavior? Ken Sweet

And they would still be getting killed by resistance fighters.

We are a free country because of outside support also, do you not think any insurrection against our government would not receive such support again? Do you really think an organized resistance in the US could not get stinger missiles or more from defectors who cannot wage war against their fellow countrymen.

All this is pure speculation and pray to God it never happens though I do think there is a tipping point for many. I have mentioned in this or another thread where acts of civil disobedience against the government and certain laws has taken place and the government's position proven indefensible.

Interesting to wonder who would provide that outside help against the sort of Euro model "socialism" you guys are so concerned about. Rather doubt it would come from Europe. Canadians already control their country in a manner similar to what lefties in the US advocate. Doubt Russia or China would leap to support a right wing insurrection except perhaps to prolong it for their own selfish reasons. Maybe he Mexican narco gangs would help.

But, I agree all this is very unlikely because we have a three hundred plus year unblemished record ( except 1861-5) of making changes peacefully in this country, even when they involve changing the Constitution.

Yes if they did not meet the standard of care expected of an average licensed physician and that failure was causally linked to the killing.

Please for the love of Pete do some research, no where has hunting been mentioned in the "rights" under the 2nd Amendment or that of many states. Hunting is abhorrent to many gun owners I know.

As to "Saturday Night Specials", something that was never really that big of a deal in reality. I worked in a couple of counties with poverty designations, my sub office was in the Sheriff Departments and I watched a steady stream of poor people come in to get "Permits to Acquire Concealable Firearms"; couldn't buy a handgun without a permit and you had to describe the gun to get the permit. Pretty much all of he guns purchased were cheap because that's all anyone could afford. Would they have chosen a nice Colt or Smith and Wesson, you bet, but they needed protection and had limited funds so they got what they could afford.

I dealt with real criminals on a daily basis and never knew one to use a "Saturday Night Special", they wanted to be on a par or better armed than the Police.

I was just responding to someones rhetorical question about whether hunters in Australia had to shoot with rubber ducks or something like that. Agree hunting is not directly part of the 2nd amend debate.

I did notice that some states have made it a state constitutional right...

While hunting is not a 2nd amendment right, it is reserved via the 10th

All theoretical of course, but I could see Russia, China etc. providing help to those who chose to rebel against the government. It would be to their benefit to see a weakened country. The US did not support Iraq enough in its war with Iran to win, but just enough to keep the war going and weaken both countries.

I am not saying that the government could or should be overthrown, but the impetus to change course could be brought about by civil insurrection.

Seems to me I remember a bit of civil disobedience and violence during the whole civil rights movement and protests against the war in Vietnam. Do you deny the war in Vietnam would have ended as it did without the protests?

Also remember Weather Underground, SDS, etc.

I hope you are right and you probably are.

Yeah, it is hard to keep track of who said what on these and I often get confused.

Here is a "cause" the media should run "rampant" with, but until they uncover a "mass grave" I think the "gun control issue will be precedent. ( added this not to be off topic, but rather inline with what I posted earlier in the thread) My "jist" is this, better to publish where convicted people live, vs law abiding people, just saying. I'd rather know where the "rapist" lives rather than some guy who has a CHL and a LEGAL firearm for protection.
