My JD 950 is overheating, again. It did this early last spring and I replaced the thermostat and water pump. It seemed to correct the problme. However, I am experiencing the same problem this year.
The water pump connects to a housing which has an electrical connection. The JD Parts catalog identifies this as a "switch" rather than a sensor. The manual states that overheating, among a dozen or so possible causes, could be a "defective temperature lamp or sender." My logic tells me thats just a false positive warning light and could not be causing the engine to overheat.
Steam perculates through the overflow bottle - that's the only signal that it is overheated.
Anyone with any thoughts before I go through replacing the thermostat and water pump, again??
Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions.
