YANMAR 3110 (Diesel)
I have a Yanmar 3110 circa 1985 (I think). I'd like to get the detailed manual so I don't miss any service gochyas - ie "where is the hydraulic system filter?"

Does anyone out there have a manual for this specific tractor for sale? or can I pay for repro?

I don't want any 3rd or 4th party copy junk that's barley legible.

thanks in advance,

Ken

There are no factory OEM English manuals for gray market tractors. Best bet is a manual for a similar US model from any Yanmar parts dealer. In your case would probably be for a YM336.

Thanks for the note. I'll check out that US model. You're the 2nd person I've heard use the term 'gray market'. I'm told that my Yanmar is considered gray market due to the variable speed pto and several other missing items that are designed to protect knuckleheads :)

If you are un-familiar with gray market tractors, yet own one, I suspect you are for an awakening;).

You can buy some if not all of those missing items if you want them:thumbsup: Hey, that 3110 is a good tractor.. And...Welcome to tractorbynet

The 3110 is a great tractor and the 336 manual will cover what you need. Make sure you get thick tech book its worth the price. You can get here from at least 3 dealers - these guys are sharp and will make your owning experience a pleasure. The filter your looking for is covered by a small trianglar plate - retained by 3 bolts and its located under the PTO shaft.
One thing we don't have is the 336's external spin on filter...

Thanks for all the notes. I don't mind it being a gray-market tractor at all. We've had it since '97 - and it's been quite reliable. We've been lucky so far - being able to cross the basic air, oil, fuel filter to some john deer part equivalent (yes I know jd engines are yanmar).

Who's the dealers here that have the 336 manuals? I'd get both the owner's and the tech manual. I feel like I have not done the hydraulic system the goodness that it deserves (no tech info).

thanks

Just "checking in" -- Taking a trailer out to look at a 3110 (4wd, so that would put it in the "D" class as I understand it) Saturday, all should be fine and if so will haul it back (he's asking $5975 with FEL and box scrapper). The tractor is green so from my research that tells me it came from G&S equipment.. any bad things to say about that?

Tractor has 1100 hrs on it according to owner and no visible leaks... this thing is located 136 miles from me, so I haven't seen it in person yet. I already know it hasn't been run consistently in the past couple of years and has a dead battery, but can jump it and check it out.. if all looks good then it is coming home to go to work.

I have been reading these pages for a few weeks and kinda gave up on the Yanmar line because they are far and few between out here and then this thing pops up... lucky me -- I liked the Yanmar line right off the bat, but have been calling on other tractors recently because there was nothing in the area and I hadn't decided to "ship" yet... and then again the 3110 is not that common (it seems) on the current, "for sale" market.

Anyway, enough of the BS -- I have 10 acres I am moving to right now and it will be working there considerably -- less than a quarter mile away I have another 5 acres to perform work on... and then there is my brother and friends properties that need some work... about 50 acres in all that I can see moving dirt/grading and digging post holes. There may be some plowing on my land also... light stuff.

I am really looking forward to running this tractor and hauling it back if all looks good (mechanically of course) -- I could use some type of fork installation, will decide on that after I see the bucket configuration -- a post hole digger will be a must also -- those things I can buy after taking delivery.

I think I have answered most of the questions that are asked after a "new guy" makes his first post... just wondering if there is anything I should know about G&S or this particular model before my "trip" in two days... I think I am good to go.

BTW -- These pages on this website have offered a plethora of information to me on not only the Yanmar, but other brands also... they also gave some "dealers" (of new products) headaches when attempting to communicate with me on new tractor prices... Oh well, this area must be living in a time warp? -- Would much rather have the old 3110 and work on it...

I think you're on the right track.

I have an answer for one of your questions - I built a set of strap-on forks and described them in this thread (http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/86838-pallet-forks.html#post970208). They do everything I need - handle limbs, pallets, lift my implements for storage. If that is a heavy duty loader you might want something better but I haven't found a need for anything more than this.

Photo - typical use of forks.

I don't know if it has PS, will find out tomorrow. Here is a link to the G&S site inspection

You can cruise their website and find out a few things about them (like they paint all their tractors green -- so they are red under the green.. having talked to the current owner I know this to be the case), other than that I don't know anything about them that isn't on their webpage -- Having read many posts on this forum over the past few weeks I know that there are dealers that are outspoken about other dealers both positive and negative.. there are also many owners that have knowledge about various dealers and their practices - that is the type of "feed-back" I was looking for.

The weird thing is that they talk like the work is done there, but they seem to be the only one painting tractors green? Fredricks i dont think paints green and is the largest and only i beleive reconditioner here in the US, other than the smaller dealers like earnie and Wayne who Recondition or bring the things that need to be fixed up to snuff.
This is the line that seems curious to me.... "Our Supplier Backs Up Their Work With A Warranty
If you have done much checking you know that it is almost impossible to find a good used tractor with any type of warranty. Our used tractor supplier is so confident of their reconditioning processes that they will warranty each used tractor for a full 30 days from delivery. "

Source: the Link that were were given above. http://compact-tractors.com/inspecti.htm#About G & S Compact Tractors

This leads you to beleive that they dont do it themselves. And 30 days is not much of a warrenty, even most of the VN "reconditioners" give 90 days and some will push that to one year.

The other scary thing is they have had that stupid thing up, "sorry about the mess we are redoing our site, bla bla bla" For at least a year. Hire so 12th grader to fix it for you and be done with it.

Im not saying there not on the up and up that 30 day warrenty seems short to me. They after all are linking to Hoye and i think Haye must advertise with them , which i dont think they would do with a fly by night type operation.

Maybe this tells us all we need to know about them:

Used - YANMAR 1510-D 19 HP PTO - 21 Engine HP ...
Compare to JD 4115 4WD Compact Tractor (24 hp) engine
Source: YM1510 page linked from 'About G&S Tractors'.

On that model Yanmar declared 15 PTO hp. When Yanmar sold the identical engine in their US version (YM186) they claimed 18 hp measured at the flywheel per American custom.

Somebody is just making stuff up.

Maybe they listen to talk radio a lot. :D

clemsonfor: It gets even better and better. If you do a search on the "sales" phone number for the company (9406363910) you can see it is Stan's Tractors in TX -- If you look at the tractors for sale advertised on the Hoye site, it gives that same number to call, which is also (allegedly) the number for G&S.

OK, "who's on first"?

Which does not make any sense as i though Hoye quit selling tractors years ago. I think Hoye has not sold tractors i know for a year, i think i asked them, but i cant remember now?

/ Owner/Shop manual Yanmar 3110 #19
You are correct, Hoye does not currently sell tractors... they have a link on their page for tractors for sale (that they apparently endorse) and then proclaim that they (Hoye) does not sell tractors, just parts... but they have their preferred tractor seller (dealer) that they recommend (at that phone number) and there will be more dealers to be recommended in the future. -- It's all on Hoye's page.

So who is on first??

I may have my facts wrong but at one time I was looking for a Yanmar tiller and ran across Stans tractors and if not mistaken he may have said they were relatives of Hoye fwtw?

Btw I have the manuals and I think anyone would like a 3110D its a sister to my 3810D and its just right for me anyway. I wouldn't ever need more tractor unless I did real larger scale farming not just piddling around with gardens and stuff. hth
