I spent part of the weekend using my new post hole digger to plant some flowers for my wife. Understand that I'm only talking 20 or so holes. In order to do that you spend most of your time looking behind you, & therein lies the problem. Maybe if my head rotated like the little girl in Omen, I would have an easier time. It does seem that tractor makers would figure a way to run certain implements out front, like the FEL. I know that means re-arranging so that a PTO is available up there, but geez, it sure seems awkward to work twisted around in your seat.
I can see where putting in a fence [I did that using a borrowed tractor 10+ years ago] could permanently re-arrange your head & neck orientation.

Maybe the Power Trac people are onto something good?

The CUT are even WORSE than the old ag tractors. At least with them, your PHD was quite a few feet farther back, so you could see it easier. With these, for me, it's quite difficult. I never dig with mine without someone to assist with alignment.

Good Luck.

The way I look at it is that it forces me to stay limber... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If it wasn't for all the twisting and bending I do when I'm using the tractor, I would get stiff and old...instead of just old... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Now I'm not sayin' that stiff is bad ALL the time, but for me flexible is better most of the time... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There is a way to have the post hole digger out front. Get one for a skidsteer mounted on a quick attach plate. It uses tractor hydraulics so you can back it out- big advantage if a root or rock binds it. It also has down pressure becase of the loader hydraulics, /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I watched those boys using a skidsteer to sink the holes for the 6X6s on my pole barn. It was quick and efficient. If I had a serious use for a post hole digger I would put mine on the FEL even with the increased price.

I haven't had much of a problem with that but it seems to me one of those TLB combos like the BX22 or the Massey where the seat swivels around might do the trick also.

Yeah, my seat swivels. But it only takes a few seconds to dig the hole, then its time to be off for the next one & swivelin' ain't that easy.
I'm not complaining about having the phd-toy, just an old man's neck after using it all afternoon.
