I'm getting ready to re-paint the impeller, housing & chute of my Ford 60" 2-stage snowblower. I've hammered out the dents, sanded away the surface rust, & primed it all.
I saw some "new" paint by Rust-oleum called Never-wet. Supposed to be a super slick surface that water doesn't stick too. Has anyone heard/tried this stuff?
I was just gonna re-paint it in its original Ford blue color & wax the interior components, like the original owner had done for 20+ yrs, before I got it.
Thanks Guys,

Shadow

I wouldnt use Neverwet. Its cool. But not made for this application.

For an implement, its hard to beat old Rustoleum. Cheap and tough enough. Easy to touch up next spring too.

There are lots of high end industrial paints i could recommend, but they come with a lot of baggage not really necessary for a snowblower

The old Rustoleum is great paint. Takes awhile to dry but worth the wait.

Sounds like a great plan guys!
Original Rust-oleum in Ford Blue, followed up with a few coats of Turtle wax, after the paint cures for that extra slick surface.

Thanks again!

Mine is almost ready for paint and I plan to use PPG AFU-370. We had very good results with it at work. It is a two-part coating and can be applied directly to cleaned metal or over solid paint.

While hydrophobic coatings have some interesting applications, aviation anti-icing and snowblowers come to mind, unfortunately they don't resist friction or rubbing very well, and so need to be reapplied fairly often in "rough" applications . . . for now, anyway, this makes these coatings a non-starter.

I lined my blower chute with 1/8" thick UHMW polyethylene. Snow has a tough time sticking, even wet slush, as this stuff is slicker than snake snot on a flat rock and tough as nails - even used for wear strips in industry. The skids on the blower are 3/4" UHMW too, doesn't mark pavers etc.

How did you attach the uhmw to the chute?

The bottom of the main chute part is held in postion due to its shape - cut to fit in some depressions there. The upper part of the lower chute is attached at the deflector slots and at the holes originally intended for the front grill (not used).

The piece for the curved portion of the deflector is cut to fit snugly at the sides, and at the front edge with a couple of drilled and tapped countersink screws. The side deflector lining is curved to fit and butt up against the upper liner to maintain its shape - each side also has a single countersink screw as well as the pivot slot bolts holding them.
