I worked on Forklifts for 40 years. Standard length forks are 42", all load data is based on this length and a 24" load center. 48" forks are not bad, 60" forks can get you in trouble if you are not careful. Depending on the size of your equipment a 30" load center derates max capacity about 600 lbs. Although it varies a good rule of thumb is 100 lbs per inch over 24".
