Pallets in fields

Driving home from work, I saw something that might help explain what it is.
Field stone is a big seller around here. So is bluestone. If the pallets were near a wall then the pallets may be used to stack fieldstone to sell.
Around us now the natural gas pipeline company's are repairing a lot of walls they had to take down when they put in the pipelines and its a big seller.

That theory will never fly with this group. It made too much sense.

These specimens have been stored for the past year in a "Science Grade" glass 'coffee jar' in my work-shed/laboratory.

First things first. Are you not acquainted with the work of the great scientist, sage, and seer, Carnac the Magnificent? As is well known, except apparently in the Antipodes, the proper repository for scientific specimens is a #2 mayonnaise jar.

Reviewing these specimens, note that there are many different shapes other than the classic 'L'. Also note the amount of oxidisation that has occurred, despite being contained in a "Science Grade" glass 'coffee jar'.

1. By my count there are 32 nails (counting the headless fragment) with only one being L-shaped. This equates to a relative frequency of 1/32 (using the US customary unit of measure) or 3.125% (using the metric system of measure).
2. Some may claim that many of the nails appear to have a "serpentine" nature. I would note that many of the nail shapes correspond to the letters of the alphabet used by the ancient Sumerians.
3. There is no number 3.
4. The oxidation would have been prevented had you used a #2 mayonnaise jar.

An A would not be an exact replication of the original. They have wind in Jersey, so you have uncovered yet another phenomena that we must solve. How do the Jersey pallets stand up to winds? We have no evidence of any method of fastening of the two pallets together.
