Pallets in fields

   / Pallets in fields #2,101
Since I am a newbie I need to show everybody the pallet/ holding fixture that I made for a friend several years ago. It works like this. Put a surplus pallet onto the fixture, I think I made it to hold one that is 48" 48 ". Load it with wood as shown. Lift it up the fixture with your tractor forks. The fixture has fork access from either side if I remember correctly. Use plastic banding on each row. Set the fixture and skid back on the ground. Pull out the pipe. Lift out the pallet. Put the pipe back in and start again. My friend needed to put the wood on his mother-in laws front porch for her kitchen wood stove. He would make up 15 to 20 of the skids for winter season. Just an FYI.

Thread drift.;)

It is apparent that you have not looked at the previous 2100 messages in this tread. Unlike the other messages, you are providing information that is useful. I suggest that you start a new thread that discusses your innovation. The new thread will give your work the attention that it deserves.

oldtimer 66, Good idea about using the banding, but I have to wonder what happens when you pull enough splits that the band looses tension. Does all the wood fall out?

+1 on Steve's comment. Still waiting on OP to disclose the purpose of those pallets out in the middle of the field...:mur:

WHAT???
Did someone accidentally pit useful information in this thread? I guess mistakes can happen anywhere.

John,
I think I saw your pallet-to-firewood method demonstrated on Youtube. The presenter even mentioned recovering the nails.

RedNeckGeek, I do not know what happens when he cuts the bands loose. I will need to ask. LOL

My friend at the garage gave me some pallets today. Pretty well made heavy duty stuff.

Although it's likely just a jejune way of getting to the 4th MM post...IMO, the epitome of this thread reminds me of a little poem...It goes like this:

"Those who write on @#$%house walls...roll their @#$% in little balls...those that read these words of wit...eat those little ball of @#$%"

:laughing: Never heard of that one..

You've led a sheltered life, Murph!!

I too want to know the meaning of the pallets in the field. When I saw this thread had been revived, I thought it might be the answer to the pondering. I guess more study and research is needed to discover the answer.....
