Pallets in fields

No permit needed as this is ongoing.

Meanwhile, back in the trenches I have been continuing my research into the appearance of a pallet "down under" as reported in my response No 730. I have talked to the local postman and he reports an encounter with a similar alien a little further up the road. Things did not go well and he suffered a DGD in the door of his vehicle. (DGD= Dirty Great Dent) To this day he still suffers, especially when we remind him of it. Which we do frequently.

With this in mind I approached my task of trying to communicate with this alien with some trepidation. It was then that I noticed that there seemed to be a force field which restricted the alien's movements. This force field prevented the alien from moving too far from the inverted V and took the form of a DGLC (DGLC= Dirty Great Long Chain) The thought of voluntarily going inside this Force field gave me a case of the screaming mee-mees. At this point I decided that discretion (and observation) is the better part of valour.

Another fact uncovered is that this structure is mobile!!!! In Google Earth the image (taken in 2006) shows a clear field but when using the Street View (taken Feb 2013) it shows the inverted V at 37 42'04.25" S 176 05'45.74" E however when I took my photo last week the V was at 37 42'04.06" S 176 05'49.32 E a movement of 73 yards (fortunately away from my place)

In the interests of science I will continue my investigations

P.S. In all this time that single eye never blinked.

My goodness Mate, we must establish and enforce some standards!

Those wishing to offer utterances should be required to be free of Moral Turpitude at a minimum. Better yet, they should be required to submit a handwritten essay, in original triplicates, detailing how they will conduct themselves in such a way as to avoid the Seven Deadly Sins while joining our pursuit of scientific knowledge.

There should be strict qualifications and a permit issued for the wearer of professional grade X-ray Vision glasses too. We cannot afford the damage that would be inflicted upon our cause due to some troglodyte's misuse of x-ray vision capability, or worse, risk the confiscation of our valued instruments of inquiry.

I will refrain from naming names, but it has come to my attention that there are those who are obviously slathering at the bit to obtain the use of professional grade X-ray Vision instruments.

(At the risk of being censured, I say...) Codswallop!

We are bigger than the odd, random, tauntings of casual 'observers' of our deliberations. There will always be deriders of the pursuit of science and our defence should always be to consider the proposal(s) [and discard them for the crack-pot theory's that they are], not to make them jump through hoops as some initiation to an exclusive club.

{Yeah, thanks Mate, just put the soap-box down right there... Ta}

TBN is bigger than that. We welcome everyone; whether they have a Harvester or a Lawn Tractor, a TIG Welder or an electric "chainsaw", a well researched 'Pallets in fields' theory or a Squirrel Girl tangent.{Queue the male choir humming "The Battle Hymn of the Republic"}

That being said, I have an Advanced Diploma of Engineering (Electronics) and am, therefore, fully qualified to ethically use Professional X-ray Glasses... looking at ladies naughty bits is purely a calibration procedure of this delicate apparatus.

yeah, lets trot out them X-ray specs and while you are at it, can we "borrow" that lab assistant, Pipette?:D

For shame, sirrah!

Were we to create an inner-circle of hard scientists we would be closing ourselves off to fresh avenues of inquiry. This is elitist talk and I shall have none of it. :melodramatic:

Why, an innocent utterance from the newest of "Newbie" could lead to the resolving of our quandary.

Sir, wisdom can come out of the mouths of babes, and so I do not question the potential for autodidacts to contribute to the progress of pallet formation science. However, a true autodidact would spend the time required to review the scientific literature to determine whether his/her idea is original.

Although an artiste by profession, my research associate, Pipette Euler, is self-taught in chemistry and mathematics. She thought that she had made a major discovery when she proved that the sum of all positive integers from 1 through infinity equals -1/12. Rather than proclaiming this fact to the world as an original contribution, she did review the literature and found that this result was known.

All that I am asking is that the "Newbies" review the scientific literature.

Oh man, essays and permits? Can't scientists be free wheeling and spontaneous in their imagination and quest for the answer to our mystery?

We have now free-wheeled through 839 (to-date) spontaneous and imaginative writings in our quest, and what do we have to show for it? No definitive answers and missing team members are the sorry net of our efforts. Your proposed touchy-feely approach to science is a sad commentary on the state of our education system.

For the sake of group unity I will accept reality, just this one time, and relent on the permit and essay requirements--with the full understanding that strict peer review protocols will be adhered to going forward.

As to the unrestricted availability of professional grade X-ray Vision Glasses, I fear the worst possible outcomes are inevitable.

Well, I will not refrain from naming names. Bruce (aka Wagtail), lilranch2001, James, and others are would-be voyeurs. They want to obtain professional grade X-ray vision instruments for the sole purpose of satisfying their prurient interests.

They remind me of the immature teenage boys of my youth -- looking through the school library's copies of the National Geographic Magazine in hopes of seeing the "naughty bits" of native females. Those hooligans tore pages from that periodical -- as a result, I was unable to read articles that would have furthered my knowledge of natural history. I am willing to wager that Bruce (aka Wagtail), lilranch2001, James and others buy copies of "gentlemen's" magazines for the pictures rather than the articles.;)

Steve

PS -- Pipette is my protege and research associate, not my lab assistant.:mad:

Fair enough. We look forward to your vivisection results paired with blood testosterone levels, as measured in five minute intervals during the vivisection.

I for one am aggregated .. Not even science is helping ... So today I'm going to get two pallets and set them up in the inverted v .... Surely in a matter of time the answer will be be revealed.

It has become apparent that the quest for the meaning of the pallets has developed a major theory schism.

<snip>

I see no hope of healing this Pallet Schism.

Dave,

Your recent bouts of pessimism are disturbing. I fear that you may be suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

Your "negativity" is not warranted in my opinion.

1. I am confident that we will obtain a unified pallet theory. My own research in string theory shows great promise in that regard.

2. Admittedly, the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons has failed. However, I trust that mankind has learned from that failure. Surely, the members of the United Nations will craft and enforce a Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Professional Grade X-Ray Vision Glasses.

That's an interesting point. Why wouldn't he see the previous page?

Sir, you exhibit the classic symptoms of both Sciurophobia and meglomania. I would advise that you consult a mental health professional at your earliest convenience.

Steve

BTW, you raised your "Crackpot Index" score total nicely here by invoking both science fiction and myths, as well as by your use of capitalization.
