Well, that's what can happen if you neglect proper 'pallet husbandry' practice.

Of course, my heart goes out to the flagrant loss of pallets.

Knowing Portland, I assume it was a a homeless pallet encampment, and a campfire probably got out of hand……

We first heard of pallets in the fields of New Jersey in 2013. More recently, large drones were seen near New Jersey airports. Now mysterious large drones have been spotted over locations in New York. Something similar began in New Jersey on October 30, 1938, in a place called Grover's Mill. America learned about it when Orson Wells came on the radio. IMHO, it was his finest broadcast.

For those of us just clicking into this thread late, now that it has resurfaced, was the OP ever solved? My money is on them protecting irrigation fittings or risers, but I'm not reading the 427 pages between the first and this, just hoping to find that answer.

I looked at a house on Grovers mill and lived a few miles away for years.
Vacated NJ when it got to out of hand, taxes, crazy politicians etc.
But we had pallets everywhere (picture not mine)
