When unloading long objects from a flatbed, it is often easiest to find the center of the load weight wise and pick up the load enough to allow the truck to pull out from underneath the load. Then you can move the load without worrying about damaging the truck. I did that with 900 lbs of metal roofing panels that were 3’x28’.

Agreed. THEN the first thing you can do is immediately LOWER the load to just clear the ground BEFORE moving or manoeuvring.

Yeah, good price, hope it works for someone. I've been scouring craigslist and other sources, including Brentwood in NH. Doesn't look like it's going to happen soon unless I rent a trailer, drive across a state, and pick it up myself. Ironically it isn't likely to be my pallet fork technique that makes it tough, but my muddy road, at least for now. Mud season can't last forever :) Bucket spade arrived today, tractor and attachments arrive tomorrow, bunch of Harbor Freight dollies arrive at time unknown due to covid, garage floor going to be very crowded for a bit!
