OK, I'm either going to reveal my ignorance, or open a can of worms... I commonly stop the tractor (L3710), set the parking brake, throttle down, dismount, do whatever I need to do, then get back on. However I find that its difficult or impossible to release the parking brake until AFTER I throttle up again. Now it's been a while since I used a tractor on a regular basis, and this is the first "modern" tractor I've used, but this just doesn't seem right. What do the brakes have to do with the engine speed? Do I have power assist brakes and just didn't know it?
That is inconvienient, but no big deal once you know what to do. But believe me, it took me a LONG WHILE to figure this out the first time. When I was sitting there like a fool trying to un-set my parking brake, and couldn't do it, throttling up was about the last thing that occured to me.
And now the safety issue... This only happened once, but bothers me. One time I got back on the tractor, throttled back up, and the parking brake POPS OFF BY ITSELF! No harm that time, but I often adjust the throttle up while not sitting on the tractor (eg if I'm using the bucket to lift something off the ground with chains, I may get off to chain it up, then lift the loader while standing on the ground. Bad habit, I know).
I could not recreate this situation again, I guess that's good.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has any experience like this, or if at least someone could educate me as to what's going on.
Thanks,
Mike
