Parking Brake Light?

Got this little project done. All went very well and easy.

First go the cover on the left of the seat out to provide access to the 4WD Lever. And also to find out how dirt it gets there. Behind the dash was also a mess.

Then I proceed to work on the getting power from the Key On position. So I just went and got it from the fuse box as there was a spare spot with a 5A fuse. I found these narrow female spade connectors that worked perfectly on the fuse in a not so conventional way and also fits the hole on the fuse-box perfectly. I just crimped the wire to the terminal, set it in place with the fuse on the other side and then using hot glue, just filled the hole with the wire in place. I did add a fuse holder for a much smaller current fuse as 5A is way too much. I'm using a 350 mA, was about the smaller I had.

Next and I didn't take any pictures, I worked on the dash connector end. I found a wire that were a tight fit on the hole of the connector, took about an inch of the isolation, pushed the wire in and used just a bit of hot glue to hold things in place. Then I tied the wire to the dash wiring loom with electric tape.

I then moved to build the bracket for the 2 wire inductive switch. The pictures are self explanatory I think.

Here are a couple pictures with the switch in place and the 4WD lever engaged/disengaged looking form the from and from the back. I almost messed up as the parking brake lever bottoms out just a hair before touching the switch. Also note the parking brake switch and wire on the left side of the third and fourth picture.

And the final shot with everything in place and the light on.

Now, if the quarantine won't end soon, I may just add the switches/wiring for the Neutral, Max lift height and High range lights and get most of the lights of the dash working.

Ptsg, great post! You did a great job explaining the process. If you get all the lights working it will look like Christmas year round! :drink:

Excellent instruction and pictures ptsg! I really feel I'm going to have to give this a try. Not now because I've been instructed to get on with other projects by my boss lady, but hopefully soon.

Cheers!
