Yes Sir. We appreciate our Farmers. A lot of the guys I work with, their Dads are Farmers and they Farm when they home so thank you I know its a hard life. No I actually never owned a Diesel GM truck before. I had a 2012 Dodge Cummins and loved it. Never gave me any problems. I passed it on to my Son and its still going strong. Before that I had Fords and when they came out with the 6.0 liter Ford I went through 2 of them do to the emissions. The wife said she better never see another Ford in the driveway..lol. My Son actually talked me in to trying out the GM so I gave it a try. I do like the new Dodge though. Very Nice
Good deal and thanks! We ain’t going nowhere without affordable diesel fuel.
I am in the final stages of trading in a ?8 550 with a 6.4 on a 2020 RAM 5500 chassis 6.7 Cummins.
I am simply amazed at what these trucks cost now. I bought my first house for less.
I had an 07 Duramax 3500 chassis pre emissions truck and loved it.
I don’t have any DEF diesels and I’m a little “anxious”

Consider what DEF you are going to use. With the Duramax I saw quite a few posts on GM and Duramax owners websites where people used Blue DEF instead of GM DEF and had issues. It would not register on the sensor even though the tank was full. They went into limp mode, had to drain the tank, and replace the sensor. I use GM DEF on the 2017 and never had an issue. I buy it at the dealer as it is cheaper than the auto parts places.

That sort of sizes up the whole problem with aftermarket products... Especially fluid products. There just isn't any easy way for us owners to tell which are good and which are not.

In this case, we don't have to wonder. Because if the Blue Fluid Manufacturer didn't even know enough simple science to check if his fluid would show up on the fluid sensors it was designed to work with, then how much of the more technical and chemical info did they either not know or deliberately ignore?

I'm not saying that they did....but how do I know? How badly do I want to gamble what I don't know against what they don't know? The only thing I know for sure is there isn't any way I can win on that one.

DEF either meets the standards outlined in ISO 22241 or it does not. If the label says the product meets the standard, the manufacturer should be held accountable to that claim. If the label does not reference meeting the published ISO standard you should not buy that DEF. There isn’t room for false claims and voodoo as with engine oils and hydraulic oils. There is one standard to be met.

Anyone who uses DEF fluid needs one of these testers. Age, sun exposure, and other factors can degrade new unopened DEF fluid. ALWAYS check DEF fluid before you put it in your tank. Ive seen brand new DEF bottles straight off the shelf be put into machines and it shut the machine down. Too easy to check it before you put it in.

Here is a link to an article about a recent court decision relating to deleting emissions equipment:

Diesel Brothers Hit With $85, Fine for Tampering With Truck Emissions - The Drive

That is a fine display of ignorance and the reason Diesels have a bad name. You can have a powerful diesel that is tuned properly that will not dump black soot into the atmosphere. It's idiots like this that make the rest of suffer. I have never watched the show but from what I just saw the fine is warranted. My 2012 Dodge with no DPF, no Cat, no EGR, straight turbo back exhaust with H&S tune and many other extras will smoke 37x12.5 tire and not roll black smoke from the exhaust.

At my workplace the policy for the people who have trucks needing DEF is open the container, top off the DEF tank in the vehicle and discard the rest of the DEF. The mechanics say too many problems occur otherwise.
