Here is a link to an article about a recent court decision relating to deleting emissions equipment:

Diesel Brothers Hit With $85, Fine for Tampering With Truck Emissions - The Drive

That is a fine display of ignorance and the reason Diesels have a bad name. You can have a powerful diesel that is tuned properly that will not dump black soot into the atmosphere. It's idiots like this that make the rest of suffer. I have never watched the show but from what I just saw the fine is warranted.

I have to wonder if a straight pipe to replace the DPF with a couple of taps for the sensors would work. If the sensors are looking for differential pressure to start the regen with no differential I wonder if they would never start, the EGR system should be fairly easy to defeat.
I realize that the EPA wouldn't like it if they found out, I would delete my pickup except that the nanny state that I live in requires annual inspections and they plug into the computer for emission compliance on your vehicle.

The Kubota MX series uses a port on each end of the DPF that have a hose each going to a differential pressure sensor. When this sensor reads pressure difference of a certain value then it kicks the engine into re-gen. In theory, if you punched out the ceramic filter media, the tractor would never go into re-gen. I believe it will still re-gen every 30 hrs though.

Here is a page from a Kubota document I found.

At my workplace the policy for the people who have trucks needing DEF is open the container, top off the DEF tank in the vehicle and discard the rest of the DEF. The mechanics say too many problems occur otherwise.

Good info

If it is the size container I'm used to it's only 2 1/2 gallons,
I wait till I'm down to 1/2 tank dump in one jug and go,no need to fill it to the brim.
That one jug is good for several thousand miles.

I wonder if buying extra hp and then running at lower rpm is causing regens sooner than on a 30 or so hour interval.

I might use a smaller tractor for a job to keep the revs up and minimize wet-stacking. Isn't DPF to prevent that? :scratchchin:

Yes it sounds logical if only it were that simple. The DP pressure sensors read a DP across the DPF in a known value. There is a DP in the shelf state. Once the DP rises above that shelf state to a determined value set in the ECM it gives an output to go into regen. If there is no DP because you removed the internals I am afraid you will throw a code and end up in limp mode. Now if you could get into the program and disable the ECM I/O for the DPF you could do what you mentioned and that way if someone looked at it everything would appear to still be there.

I know of someone that was having this very issue while running the Backhoe attachment. He had the rpm set low and was having issues with the regens. Once he cranked up the rpm problem solved

Several ways to work on that if it did, the taps could be angled which could increase or decrease pressure depending on the angle relationship with the flow,
or simply install the first sensor in the exhaust and the second past a muffler or in the air.
Untill a person is actually working on it it is hard to say.

It's idiots like this that make the rest of suffer. I have never watched the show but from what I just saw the fine is warranted. My 2012 Dodge with no DPF, no Cat, no EGR, straight turbo back exhaust with H&S tune and many other extras will smoke 37x12.5 tire and not roll black smoke from the exhaust.

While I don't agree with making a vehicle roll smoke, all I see is a huge out of control federal bureaucracy that is stomping on American citizens engaged in a practice that has been going on for ever, modifying something you have bought to personalize it. It is no different then putting straight pipes or glass paks on a car, putting a 4 barrel carb on an engine that came with a 2 barrel. Or these kids with the lowered rice burners with the big cans for mufflers and super low profile tires that are pretty much useless. But fun to watch and laugh at in the snow.

All of the federal bureaucratizes need to be trimmed down and brought in to heel, they have absconded/stole way to much authority and power. By there own definition they are not legislative or judicial bodies.

Bureaucracy refers to both a body of non-elected government officials and an administrative policy-making group. Historically, a bureaucracy was a government administration managed by departments staffed with non-elected officials.

What they leave out is that they also seem to feel that they do not respond to the people but only to themselves and they are constantly involved in making themselves stronger and more overbearing.

Is it time for anew tea party? as I recall the original was over the abuse of power and authority.
