Feed grade Molasses produces Phosphoric acid, and it's biodegradable. Mix it with water in a bucket and dip your parts for a few days. Has to be kept warm though.

Always nice when a genuine EXPERT responds!

I tried the scotchbrite pads and if it encounters any sharp edge (which there is) it quickly removes the abrasives from the pad in a puff of dust. Pretty sure we will just grind it with a grinding disc, then finish with 120g flappers, and peen with a wire wheel to blend in with the bead-blasted finish on the rest of the item.
