Past's Easy Change vs. Kubota Quick Hitch on Kubota M4 with Cat 2

Ah, I mistakenly thought that was Lou's post I was responding to, and the top hook pictured looks a lot like it's got the same yellowish plating or finish. Most of my attachments have a pin that's supported at both ends vs. a traditional cat 1 one side supported with a finger snapper at the other. Do you still need a ball?
Yes, the balls are required for any attachment be it a cat 1,2 or 3. The ball OD for the cat 1 size hooks is much smaller than either the cat 1 or cat 2 balls which are interchangeable between the cat 1-2 & cat 2 size hooks.
Then of course the cat 3 hooks & balls are much larger yet.

I wish that they had a cat 1 size top link hook, but all they have is cat 2 & cat 3 size.
So for cat 1 applications, I have to machine the balls down to fit for width.

So to take full advantage of this, you need to buy a pair of balls for each implement.
I can do the welding, can you pm me a cost? I'm fine with it reply here if you don't mind and forum rules allow it.

Yes, to take full advantage, a set of balls of each implement is the way to go. Once you're setup, you just back up to the implement and hook it up. If you are a bit crooked, you can just push the implement till it stays square with the tractor.

Without a set of balls for each implement, you'll find yourself playing with your balls constantly. :)

One thing I noticed on the hooks that came standard with my tractor is that they may have used a spring a bit too strong. For cat 1 implements, it will just lift the implement instead of pushing the latch in. I almost flipped my tiller backwards trying that. I now unlatch both hooks before trying to hook the implement.

I don't think this is a problem with cat 2 implements though as they usually have enough weight.

Is there an "official" name for this type? Maybe not, now that I think about it, there's not really a name for what we get here in the US either beyond the "telescoping" feature that I'm guessing is not really needed with this hook style, at least regularly.

Having had quick hitches and pats there is no comparison the quick hitch is better. If your implements don’t fit the quick hitch modify them so they will and don’t buy any more that don’t fit. A quick hitch takes all the frustration out of hooking up implements. I have not hooked up an implement without a quick hitch in about 7 years and I can still remember fighting with getting things lined up.

A QH without a toplink is the same as having Pat's. I just don't see the allure of Pat's. My tractor has extendable arms and I can hook those bad boys up in the same amount of time you can hook ole Pat up. Now a QH, that's another conversation. With a hyd toplink it's the way to go.

No disrespect intended, but I do not believe you. I have a different brand but made similar to PAT’s, I have worked tractors with extendable arms. No way you are connected as quick as with PAT’s that you can back under, raise and they are locked in and done on lower arms all from the seat!

I fail to understand the allure of quick hitches, I have bought 2 of them.
One we converted to a gooseneck hitch, the other I welded to a SSQA plate for moving implements
with my loader.
Now I will also admit that my implements do not get to live inside on nice pallets and they are
larger heavier cat 2 implements that tend to settle and tilt in the ground plus my ground is not level.
I much prefer the Euro hook type quick hitch arms.

To those that like them, good enjoy them but they are not for me.

No official name that I know of. I have always called them Euro type quick hitch hook ends because they are so prevalent in Europe.

I have provided as well as seen in Europe the Euro type hook ends on both the extendable and fixed Draft Arm links.

So Pat's hooks the toplink up and adjusts the stabilizers too? This is a silly issue. You have to hook up the toplink and adjust the sta bars or links. Fighting with stabilizer bars alone is reason enough to have a QH. I back up to an implement, lift and go. Did it all day yesterday. Keep your Pat's, I've tried them.

Stabilizer bars? Nope.
