I have an MX5400 which is a Cat1/2 system...I'm looking to get a set of Pat's quick hitch adapters and I'm thinking I should order Cat 1....does it make a difference and has anyone put Pats on their MX5400? Any feedback on experience with them. All my equipment is Land Pride but one TMG tiller...thanks.

What size pins are on your equipment and what diameter are the holes in 3 point arms?

I have a MF 265 (Cat 2) with a Pat’s Quick Hitch (Cat 1). Works just fine. All my attachments were Cat 1.

(Have since bought a MF 383 which has Cat 2 hitch and a Cat 2 8 ft. Bush Hog. Don’t plan on adding a Quick Hitch to the MF 383, since I don’t currently plan of using any other attachment with it.)

Pats makes a cat 2 to cat 1 set. My new tractor is a cat 2, but all my implements were cat 1. Fits on cat 2 arms, but fit with cat 1 pins.

I've got Pat's Cat 1 on my L2501. I love the thing after some improvements. Your PTO shaft may be too short after installing Pat's (mine was). After buying a new one I learned you can purchase just the shaft material and reuse the original ends. You may lose the nuts off the U bolts. Add a self locking nut to each side to prevent this. The adjustment bolts seem to be mild steel. When tightened the ends will mushroom making them nearly impossible to remove should you choose to do so. I replaced mine with hardened grub (set) screws of the same diameter and thread pitch. These can be screwed through and easily removed.

Pats on my MX5200 work great. Did you know you can get cat 2 pins and put them on your cat 1 equipment?

I would get the Euro style if it was me. I have the Pat's quick hitch now but if had known about this Euro style, I would have done that. Maybe somebody wants to buy my Pat's Cat 2 style.

I know this is almost a year old thread . . . I have the exact same issue: I have a Kubota MX5400 with a hydraulic top link and side link. The tractor has a Cat 2 3pt and all my implements are Cat 1. I added a Pat's Quick Hitch (cat 2 for cat 1 implements). The top link was not long enough after the Pat's added 4" in length to the lower link hook up points. My solution was to extend the hook up location at the top link with a welded bracket (a friend is a machinist and did the work). Here's a picture. There is a thread somewhere here from someone who did the same thing but I can't find that thread now.

That is the best option for an MX especially for a Pat’s quick hitch; get the Cat 2 hitch. It’s easy to change the pins or add bushings on a Cat 1 implement to use on a Cat 2 hitch. But if you only have a Cat 1 quick hitch then you can’t use Cat 2 implements on the MX. And that is limiting for a tractor that is designed to use both Cat 1 and 2 implements.
