Pellet Stove review?

When you take stove efficiency into account, pellets and propane cost about the same. Add to that the higher initial cost and work involved with a pellet stove, I probably will not buy any more pellets when our current supply is gone.

Not in my experience. I'm not talking calculated theoretical numbers, I'm talking $$$ out of my pocket. House warmer, less cost with pellet stove than with propane.

way less $$$ using pellets than propane

2011 used wood burner some 1 1/2 cords and used $1600/yr propane
2012 used 1 1/2 tons pellets and $300/yr propane and average $15-20 more in electric running the heatpump more with house considerably warmer
2013 used 1 1/2 tons pellets and $280/yr propane and average $10-15 more in electric
I believe I have a break even of 2 1/2 yrs on my cost to buy and install my pellet stove with a much warmer house

Well I used the calculator on hearth.com which seems to have more reasonable efficiency values.

We heated a 3000 sqft, 2 story house one winter for $600 in propane with an unvented gas stove. My son is doing a similar thing now with his 40 year old, 3 bedroom ranch. In fact he is using little enough propane that they are charging him extra for the tank.

One winter does not bring you to any good conclusions on heating cost. It doesn't tell us about how much propane was then vs. now either. You haven't compared it to heating with pellets either.

I know first hand, having propane for 8 years and a pellet stove for 5, that pellets are much less expensive when used to heat our house to a warmer temperature than we heated it with propane.

Oh we have used propane...and pellets for more than that, but not exclusively. My son has used an unvented propane fire place for several years now.

I know OUR pellet stove (Harman Advance) does a horrible job of heating the house.

Interesting. Our Harman XXV does an excellent job! It will heat our entire house (rancher, 1700 sq ft per floor) if we don't mind it being 80+ in the basement. If we do that, it takes a lot of pellets, but to just keep an even heat in the basement with the pellet stove and supplement on the main floor, it does a great job!

Bear in mind, propane prices vary a LOT in different parts of the country.

I have no idea about the pellet stove you are asking about But if you are thinking to buy a pellet stove,a pellet stove must have at least these qualities 1- which warm your room not overheat it 2-must have due fuel feature in case if wood is not available you can use cons.3-It shouldn't be noisy 4-It must be easy to clean. As far as which type of pellet stove is concerned it depends all on the size of your home and what is your budget.
As per your questions it seems you are looking for a budget friendly pellet stove i would suggest you to go with Pelpro PP130 its the best money saver pellet stove it is quiet and can keep 2200sq feet room .I am using comfortbilt hp22 pellet stove its work good and i use corn as a fuel but still if you want learn more about different pellet stove you must check this source Best Pellet Stoves | May 219's Top Picks - Complete Buyer's Guide
