People shoot people not guns?

Either the people who think banning guns is a good idea are so far removed from reality that the concept of a criminal disobeying a law to turn in their guns does not occur to them, or they have another agenda. With carreer politicians in office(and their own little world), I would say it is a tossup as to which is the correct answer

The words in RED summarize the problem in this country. The people who are the most removed from reality are, unfortunately, the ones we have elected to be our leaders and representatives.

VA Tech was a "gun free" zone. ie No one had a gun to protect themselves. While a tragedy, it should serve to alert people to the fact that anywhere with a sign on the wall that says "No guns allowed" is a good place to consider if mass murder is on your mind.

One thing that I've been suprised about, and actually a little shocked, is that the media has touched on the "gun free zone" status of Virginia Tech. I don't rememeber this ever coming up before, nor do I remember anybody speculating what could have happened if it had not been so.

To me, this is significant as it shows that there are those out there who actually get it. Hoping and hiding will not save the day. Having a way to defend yourself will.

I agree Eddie and the anti-gun backlash has not been as strong as I'd have suspected. The "Gun Free Zone" thing is so ironic. First, it wasn't 'gun free' at all since the killer had his guns, and the fact that it was gun free for everyone else magnified the tragedy. Now that's irony for you.

All that a "Gun Free Zone" means is that all the harmless, peace loving, law abiding citizens are unarmed!

I again assert that those who create these gun-free zones should be held legally responsible for the safety of those inside it since they have denied those people the right to defend themselves.

1) We don't necessarily know for a fact that no one tried to defend themselves. They may have been shot dead trying. No one will ever know for sure.

To be fair.. a significant amount of people would have had to tried to be effective. 1-2-3 people rushing a guy with 2 pistols.. well... most likely they are going to be taken down.

30 people rushing a guy with 2 pistols... well.. that changes things entirely. Sure... the front 'group' is going to get shot up. However the 20 or so survivors may tear the guy limb from limb.

I'm not criticizing for not fiting back.. I'm criticizing our legal system for pre-empting the students ability to defend themselves, if they so choosed. ( chose so? )

i assure you it has been plenty strong. it's just that the anti gunners are being silent and subtle. There is alot of anti-gun legislation simmering right now.. I suspect most of it will start boiling when the 'other ' party takes over.. predictable in the next election.

There is another factor not yet mentioned is that each of thr VT students had had 12 or more years of be nice, share, don't hit back, don't think for yourself, do what teacher tells you, etc. They have been trained to obey authority or they are punished. They have been trained to be sheep!!!
