Saw this in the news today:
The following mind-boggling attempt at a crime spree in Washington, DC appeared to be the robber's first (and last), due to his lack of a previous record of violence, and his terminally stupid choices:

1. His target was H&J Leather &Firearms; A gun shop specializing in handguns.

2. The shop was full of customers - firearms customers.

3. To enter the shop, the robber had to step around a marked police patrol car parked at the front door.

4. A uniformed officer was standing at the counter, having coffee before work. Upon seeing the officer, the would-be robber announced a hold-up, and fired a few wild shots from a target pistol.

The officer and a clerk promptly returned fire, the police officer with a 9mm GLOCK 17, the clerk with a 50 DESERT EAGLE, assisted by several customers who also drew their guns, several of whom also drew and fired. The robber was pronounced dead at the scene by Paramedics. Crime scene investigators located 47 expended cartridge cases in the shop. The subsequent autopsy revealed 23 gunshot wounds. Ballistics identified rounds from 7 different weapons. No one else was hurt in the exchange of fire.;)

Wasn't that scene in a sitcom or maybe one of the Police Academy movies? Too bizarre to be anything but reality:)

I thought this was an urban legend, but it actually happened. It wasn't in Washington DC, it was in Washington State.

Here's
the true story...

I'm not sure why anyone read it today. It must have illustrated a point in a story. This happened in 1990.

A gunshop in Washington, D.C. gave it away as to not being the location:) ........Taxing gunshops out of existance seems to have curbed the crime wave in Oakland, CA. also......:D

Thanks, RoyJackson. That is another example of distortion of the facts by the news media. It seems that they no longer do any investigation prior to going to print or "on the air" with a story. They all want to be the first with "breaking news", the end result is the truth is seldom, if ever, told.

Huge difference when the crowd are the agressors, and they have an 'open' city to difuse off into.

Nothing at all like a closed 2nd story school room with a guy and a couple guns and a whole room full of students.

The 'you , you, and you, ' would still be 'gonners'.. but the other 27 'you's' could be piling on top of him cheerleader / football tackle style..

Soundman, didn't you ever watch gunsmoke? Matt would get his gun and go outside with just festus to stop a big lynch crowd,,he would say something like yeah,I may not be able to stop you all but you and you are gonners, than the crowd would reluctantly go away.thingy

Something similar happend about 10-15 ys ago in the city I live in. Probably our biggest pawn shop was broke into late one afternoon ( store closing.. no customers present ) robber had a gun fired at the multiple clerks in the building ( missed them ) clerks all returned fire.

Criminal made it out of the building and half way across the street before colapsing.. was found to have been shot multiple times. i don't remember the number.. but it was quite high.
