Jim has a great point. I was at Lowes yesterday and saw the 7/16 OSB was almost three dollars a sheet cheaper than sheetrock. My shop is all OSB, but I paid $14 a sheet for it last year. Right now, I'm seriously thinking about buying a hundred sheets just to have them.

Prime the OSB with sheetrock primer and add two coats of high gloss white paint and your OSB will look great and reflect a lot of light.
Tomorrow I am headed for the lumber yard to buy 20 sheets of OSB. The last time I had to buy 7/16 OSB it was $20 a sheet, Home Depot had it for $5.99 a sheet yesterday.
OSB is better if you want to hang things from the walls.

Roger , about 5 years ago i had a 3 car grage built about 20 ft for the house( code here says unattached as to be at least 15 ft) my garage is the same size as yours 34 wide x30 deep. one thing i did do ( Only 2 doors) but i hade the dorr were the cars were going made to 18' instead of the normal 16' the contractor installed a 1/4" steel plate betenn the 2 2x10 header to make sure it did not sag the only thing i wish i had done different was increase the height so i could have used 8' or 9' doors has not been a problem but i have to be real careful that the door where the tractor goes is upp all the way or the rops will hit. don't really cost that much to go up a 1 or 2 ' i just never thought of it.

OSB is more bust proof than dry wall.

One reason I am going with a new garage is at this time we have only a 1 car basement garage, the tactor has it and our cars set out in the cold. Now the wife with get the basement garage and me and my tractor will get the new garage + no steps into the back of the house do to the fact the garage will be in the back of the yard. Iam going with 9ft doors due to the fact the rops have took out my door in the basement twice.

I am glad you mentioned the code for how far the garage has to be from the house becasue mine is only 6 ft from the house corner. I doing this to keep from digging in the hill if I go back. But I think it might be better to put up a cement wall there by allowing me more space between the house and garage and this way be able to get the tactor in and out of the back yard. I will have to check the code, maybe this way I can use it as a reason to move it back when talking to my friends that are helping me. They just do not want to frame up a wall to pour.

I will make a new post next week when we start.

Pluse is 24 wide enough to get two cars in with out bumping into each other cars or the side wall.

thanks once more and great input from all

Ya migh say that's the standard.
When I built my garage i went with four 13 by 30 stalls.I like the extra foot of witdth in each stall but if I had it to do over again I'd have gone with 14 foot stalls.
I also have another building with 5 12x22 stalls and one 16x 22 stall.

Something to think about on the whole drywall vs OSB debate...

Drywall is a pretty good fire retardant & may be required by code. OSB burns fast & hot. (Even the kind with a fire retardant mixed in...experience talking...)

I lost a garage to fire once. Since that time, I've drywalled every garage I've built.

What I like to do is screw OSB or plywood over the drywall. This gives me the benefits of both. More expensive, but worth doing.

Drywall is better as a fire ****, but in my garage I have moisture all winter. If I use drywall I'd have walls of mold falling down within 2-3 yrs. You also can't wash the tractor inside, or anything else of the sort. Most folk around here put nothing up. Use the space between studs to hold stuff, and only wall up anything getting heated. Mike
