I always buy Stanley tapes with both Metric and Foot. I prefer Metric. Four meters, 400 CM (4 Meters) is not 13 feet 3/8th inch. Its 13 feet, one and 1/2 inch. The measurement given is from the inner post edge across the diagonal to the other inner post edge. Posts are 5 and 1/2 inch square. The metric and the foot/inch measurements are not equivalent. Length, inner post to inner other post is 3 meters, 30 centimeters, thats 10 feet, 9 inches and 15/16ths. Width, is 2 meters, 10 centimeters, which isn't 7 feet and 1/2 inch.

I'll buy one or the other but never both on one tape. I don't mind working in either unit.
