Perils of retirement

Retired for 7 and a half years. Me and the one that thought was the better half parted ways 16 years ago so I only have myself to blame for anything. The later years of working I realized the moment I was able to retire I would. If I stayed longer of course I could have brought home more of the green stuff but money can't buy piece of mind. I make enough to pay the bills and a couple left over for projects I want to do and am happy as a pig in sh?? with that. Most of the time it's just me, the chickens and some steers I am feeding out and every couple years a couple pigs for butchering. I have a lady friend that comes out on the weekends and some times for a couple hours after work and helps me do chores. She never realized that being around the farm and livestock would be so enjoyable. Grew up on a dairy and always have had some sort of smaller farm to raise livestock of some sort. I work from sun up to sundown and beyond. I know I work harder than ever before. What I use to do all day now takes me all day to do and it's the best job I ever had and there is many, boss-labor-cook-janitor-yard man-mechanic- and the list goes on and on. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

Awesome! That actually sounds really nice. If you enjoy it, that's all that matters.

The trick with retirement is to put off until tomorrow what you should probably do today.

Been retired for 15 years and hopefully will be alive to stay retired for as long as I have worked so at least 17 more.

Amen to that. My motto is "If you don't mind, it don't matter" and "Everything is not an Emergency" (after 30 years doing school maintenance). Forgot: "Sh*t Happens-Then you Die".

Yup it's your schedule not theirs any more. I don't allow drama, any kind of BS, it's either true or false, black or white, yes and no and right or wrong. Gray area is not a color in my world. When you retire see to yourself, make yourself happy and enjoy the sunrise and sunset. By the time you retire you have a lot more time behind you then you have ahead of you.

What ever Kype is Kype to your hearts content. I would guess it's some sort of social media. The only social media I do is tractor by net. No honey bo bo or Kardashians philosophy here.

I would just say, be debt free and do it. Life is to short to be an indentured servant to The Man.

Pulled the plug almost 18 years ago. 35 years of teaching. The kids, for the most part were great. Some of the parents, not so much. Now I perform with six different music groups on five different instruments. In my "Spare" time I have helped a friend to restore two Austin Healey 3000s, a '67 Volvo wagon, and a Oliver 70. Now I get to try to restore the "Oliver Parts Tractor". I'll add that to the Farmall "A", Allis "C", Gehl loader, home-made backhoe, '83 International 1700, GMC 4104, Cat D4 and White "Road Commander 2". Other than that I don't have a thing to do.
