Feed them some of your beer, they go in get drunk and drown. Use a larger container than this google picture pan. Keep the rim about 1 above soil level.

The sensation when you squish them between your toes on a summer day is unforgettable :D

I preferred nice cool cow patties on a hot summer day.

So back on topic....or actually one of the topics LOL. This thread has been everywhere. We plan for retirement and then life throws a curve ball. I am on the board of directors of a very large non profit organization. The Executive Director of this non profit has been with the non profit since its inception in the early 80s. It didn't have enough money to support him full time until the late 80s and didn't have a real retirement (401k) plan until the late 90s. The executive director will be 80 years young this year. The non profit has blossomed and he has a very handsome salary. But anyway, he was telling us Friday that it is very possible he might retire this year but was raising a 14 year old and needed to put her through school. No matter what kind of planning life can throw you curve balls and I am sure it wasn't in his plan to be raising a grandchild at 80 years young.

You have a point but there is something special if the cow patties are still warm :D

So not only is this thread on a slippery slope, it is starting to have a familiar smell

Yes, perils at every turn! There are some days you get that ol' bear and some days that ol' bear gets you! I have enjoyed this thread even if it has wandered a bit.

I had an old friend die in a brew tank the same way........when they told his wife that he drowned in the tank.......she was devastated.........she told his supervisor that it must have been just a horrible death.........the supervisor told her......."Well....it couldn't have been that bad.....he got out three times to pee!":drink:

Old Red...in reply to your 12/09/2917 post questions...It is feasible that you can build wealth in retirement; but impossible to know what the future will hold 20 years out. 20% savings is good...diversify your investments. There is no point to build wealth in the latter years of retirement. More spending is somewhat pointless then. A gifting program has merit IMHO. One alternative is to support the education of the young sprouts.

If able, the gifting idea to young ones for education is a good one. Many states have CHET programs with low expense rates for qualified educational expenses. These are also known as 529 plans. The funds grow tax free, and as long as they are used appropriately, you pay no tax or penalty on the earnings.
You can start one for a child, grandchild, etc....to get the fund going for them. If they do not end up going to college, another individual of your choosing can use it for qualified educational expenses. Worth checking out.
