We had an issue with a couple aggressive strays that would show up randomly for a couple weeks. My suggestion - move to a safer area. I live in a VERY remote location. Been here 38+ years. In all that time - NEVER had anybody come here wanting to do harm to anything or anybody. I have never taken a weapon with me for self protection while out on my property. I own 80 acres - a mile off the county road.
I feel very sorry for those who have to or feel they have to carry a firearm to be safe on their own property. Life is just too short for that sort of crap .............
After the first encounter while walking my dog, I started carrying just in case. After the sheriffs office figured out the dogs owner and threatened them with fines, the dogs were contained and the gun went back in the safe.
Normally the only time I conceal carry is if I'm on night watch for a customer in a questionable area, or on vacation.
Now at my grandparents farm. There was a rifle stashed in the downs stairs coat closet that was loaded minus one in the chamber.
It was placed there for quick access after they encountered a fox acting screwy when my brother and I were 3 years old.
Brother and I were playing in their yard when they saw the fox heading for us. Thankfully their Saint Bernard intercepted the fox before it got to my brother and I.
Tests later confirmed the fox had rabies, and Bruno had to spend a few weeks at the vets office in quarantine even though he was up to date on his rabies shots.
