Peter Jennings is a real piece of work. I swore off of him after the elections. I thought he was going to cry when he had to announce Bush the winner on election night. It seems that now they don't even offer the facade of being unbiased.
Not only am I sick of Peter Jennings, but the coverage on NPR was really getting me mad today too. Seems that all they wanted to talk about was how much better a reception President Clinton would have got if he had been the one touring the disaster area in the city. How Dubya doesn't connect with the people of New York. How Dubya lost so badly there ... and on and on and on.
They didn't make any comments about how Gore had to be ordered back from Austria to attend the memorial service. Haven't heard a squeak of support from that character - even the Clintons have made positive statements.
In many ways it's a lack of respect for the USA that made the terrorists consider the US a soft target. It's a lack of respect for the office of the President of the United States which will cause disunity in the event of conflict.
When will these media people realize that now is not the time to be bitching about election results? They should look to China and the former Soviet Union to see what snivelling little boot-lickers they'd be forced to turn into if it wasn't for the virtues of the constitutional democracy that we live in - and show it some respect. Last time I checked the media was not referenced as one of the institutions enshrined in the constitution - although I'm sure they'd like to see that changed.
Unfortunately, people like Peter Jennings consider themselves to be "King-Makers" and just can't stomach it when their preferred candidate loses.
Jennings is a Canadian, a relatively uneducated man to be in the position he's in, and it shows. Rather is my favorite idiot, but Brokaw is right up there. I watch Fox News Channel.
Bob
Bob, there are none better then OReilly, Brit, Tony and Shawn, they all get A+'s. Its not always what CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC say, as much as what they don't say. GO FOXnews.
You are right on the money, I think he did cry. Now I have a satelite dish and don't need any of CNN, CBS, ABC, or NBC. I found FOX and am there for good.
Once again I am glad I do not have television reception where I live, out too far for cable too many hills and trees for a dish. Who cares whether the President is good at comforting the people. What will be most comforting for me is to see how the President handles those responsible for this terrible act of violence against this counrty.
I can only take so much of NPR too. There is one radio station out of Boston I listen to, WBZ am 1030. They have done a treffic job reporting what is happening at Logan Int. and the investigation to determine who did this.
I was pleased that our President had the fortitude to call this nation to prayer and rememberance today. I believe that is the best way to unite this nation and the only place we will find comfort and hope.
I do frequently try to catch the evening local NBC news and weather, and then watch Tom Brokaw, but most of the time our TV is on Fox, also, either the broadcast channel (4 in our area) or the DirecTV satellite channel.
Jennings, Brochaw, Blond Bimbo, ain't a one of em could hold a ash troa for Chet Huntley, or Chronkite. Seems like every time I see the TV they got another Blond bimbette flappin her gums. I thought this shut was gettin deep back in the early 70s when they was all coverin the space shots 24 hours a day. My favorite was the nitwit with a microphone who intervued the Vertical Ascent Assist Device - Manual Operator for 10 minutes without figuring out he was talkin to the idiot that carried the ladder the astronauts used to climb from the gantry into the capsuel. At least them guys hadda drag a camera cable, you knew they were good for something.
The current generation learned to be "photojournalists" in college, from professors who weren't smart enough to be reporters. Next thing we gonna get here will be "reporters" who do a strip while they read the "news" like they have in Russia. That might be worth watchin, for a night.
I didn't hear it, but several people were calling up some of the local radio talk shows about it. They were pretty worked up about it.
I did see an interview with Laura Bush, where she was asked why her husband was moving around. She kept her cool, but snaped back " because it's the job of the secret service to protect the President" I had to chuckle, what a question for the first lady.
One thing to keep in mind about Rush or any other talk show host. Basically they are entertainers. They need ratings. They get them by getting people worked up. It's a role they play.
I personally couldn't speak for 48 minutes without offending someone, more less 48 hours.
Same here...And wouldn't really give a s--t!
Just think, if algore was president this would be all cleared up. He would have called ***** up and got three dummys for a show trail and a fat campaign contribution. We didn't go after him the last time he blew something up, did we?
