PETROGEN - gasoline/oxy cutting system

For those that have not seen this system. Very impressive. Only downside is cost, but in the long run, it will surpass the other system, just in the savings on the cost of the fuel. They also have 180 degree torches for the rail cutting system.

Not yet, but it is on my must have list. I have the motorized cutting torch, that will follow a track, or a straight edge.

I can see why you must have one I am at the cutting charistics, cutting through rod that thick and the multiple plate even with an air gap is enough to make any professional smile(by the way I am not a pro welder). I am just glad to have the o/a for what I do but man that is head and shoulders above o/a.

I sent Petrogen an Email asking about this, and here is what they said.




In order to safely deliver and mix the gasoline, everything is different: hose, torch, tank. tips. Tip numbers correspond to thickness cut. See cutting chart on Standard Package page in our Web site.

I just scratched O/A off my wish list and replaced it with petrogen.

I'm now in search of some project where I have to cut some insanely thick metal with an airgap between two layers.

I was looking at propane / oxygen but haven't made that move yet.

A quick web search indicated that they are pretty guarded about their prices. Everyone says to "call for pricing"

The used ones I see selling locally are advertised for a little over $1,000. I'd imagine new is a bit more than that.

I think I'll look in to the propane a little harder now.
