I've just gone through this exercise with my BX24.

I decided to give my Deere 425 + hyd. tiller to a relative. No, I'm not naturally generous, but it made a great excuse to add a Land Pride tiller to the BX.

My tiller application is a set of veggie gardens inside a deer fence. Tight fit so the loader had to come off. That required a set of front weights. Tried driving up the trailer ramps with just the tiller mounted. I won't do that again!

Randy @ J&I in Olympia didn't stock the Kubota weights, bracket, or bolt kits. He offered to fabricate something - to try to save some $$$ - which I really appreciated. In the end, I decided to just have him order the Kubota stuff, since it was sure to fit.

Not so much. The bolt kit doesn't fit the bracket. The "L" shaped metal welded to the nuts don't overhang the bracket as they should, so I can't use them. Can't source the extra or ultra fine thread M14s locally either - but that's another deal. The bracket fits on the BX, but not with the loader mounted. Actually the loader and bracket can be on at the same time, but the loader can't be lowered all the way.

So, older and wiser, I guess.

My neighbor is kind of hard headed, but he got a BX with loader, mower and bagger. Did not like mowing with the loader so he takes it off and now he insisted on getting the front weights to counter act the bagger, and 3pt sprayer. Now he has a tractor that looks like his 25 year old John Deere 420. It takes 30-45 minutes to take off the weight bracket and put the loader on. Now he keps on thinking on a second BX to use the loader on. He complains about me having a BXand the G2160 mower but he is trying hard to go past me and catch up with L Brown. If you have the hood guard I think it may be easier to weld a bar across the front to take on the suitcase weights and cut out the process of changing the brackets.

Yep, in hindsight it would have been better to mod the grille guard with a bar and use the Deere-style weights that just hang on the bar. Much simpler and maybe could co-exist with the loader.

The idea of the weighs, as I was told, is the balance loads to keep all four wheels on the ground and lessen the strain on the smaller front wheel drive system. If using the loader you then need the counter weight on the rear. The suitcase weights are ideal as then you can move them back and forth. On the rear you can fab a bracket to fit on the 3PT or hang on a universal carrier. I am to the point of doing something like this for my BX25. Quite often I have seen the suuitcase weights at the auction or on Craigs List pretty cheap. Many ways to improvise a hanging weight using scrap iron, lead, or concrete as I have seen in other threads.

I have a BX25 for FEL and BH work. I bought a B2320 to till and plow and Boxblade with so didn't get a FEL since I have the BX25. Have discovered the need for front weight on the B2320. Have made a couple of Sakrete weights with rebar bent down to hang off the front but can't get two on at one time and 60/80 lbs (each) isn't enough. Been pondering how to add weight on front without paying $1 per lb for new Kubota tractor weights. The Sakrete weights are about $7 for 60/80 lbs with two rebar pieces.
I've watched other posts on the forum about front weight solutions through the summer and seen several good ideas.
I bought a Reese hitch receiver last week at Harbour Freight ($20) and an 18" Reese extension bar ($12?). Plan is to attach the Reece receiver on the front of my B2320 and have a receiver to be able to move a small trailer, hook my winch to front of B2320 (and RTV1140) if/when needed and use the 18" extension bar to hang different weights on. My brother in law has a machine shop so I asked him for advise:) on how to attach Reece hitch receiver to front of tractor. He said he would weld me a piece of flat steel on the back of it, with predrilled holes, and I could attach/bolt it to the front tractor weight holder plate.
I'll post pictures when I get it.
