Pickup HVAC Problem

I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 pickup with 44,000 miles on it. 6.0 liter V8. 3/4 ton. Bought new. Pretty solid truck.
Currently, it does not matter what HVAC button I push to direct the air flow inside the cab - the air only comes out of the front ducts regardless. Sometimes I really want the defrost - to blow air onto the windshield.
Any ideas why I am now unable to defrost as intended? The air-flow buttons still light-up when pushed, but make a liar out of me when I tell Wifey the defroster is on when it is not.

Sounds like an actuator might have went bad. I've replaced a few on my older GM trucks.

How difficult and costly to replace? Is this a common issue? Thanks!

Part is ~ $30.00 if you’re kinda flexible they aren’t horrible to change. Double check your fuses before swapping Wouldn’t be surprised if dealer quoted $900+ in labor

I’ve replaced blend door actuators on two different vehicles, a Dodge Challenger and a Chevy Impala. The Impala was easier, I went in through the glove box but not exaggerating when I say I spent about twenty minutes taking one bolt out and back in.

The challenger as you can see required an awkward angle.

yea do it once, you learn very quickly to simply pull the seat out. generally 4 bolts and a couple connectors.

I thought about pulling the seat but it didn’t look that easy to me. I might have been worried about the air bags too.

generally requires you to disconnect the battery, there are airbag sensors in most seats now

There’s an actual side airbag in mine in that picture. Probably not really that scary.

It depends which one is not working...I think the defrost/face/floor might be under the dash on the older models. I'm not sure about your year. They usually go out slowly instead of like a switch though.. I'm surprised.
