Based on the old paper work I have besides the slightly larger engine, and 2 more horse power on the PTO, and tilt stering,

add to that:
cruise control,
position control,
two fender lights,
Deluxe cushion seat,
tool box,
12volt outlet,
floor mat

Ok I'm gettin antsy!! Can anyone tell me the difference between the 1023 and the1026 besides the 3 hp and adjustable steering. The dealer has a 1023 on the floor and I'm thinking that would suit my needs just fine. Unless there is a major difference between the two of course.

Looks like maybe the 1026 has more available "frillies" like additional llights, toolbox, position control, etc. But if the 1023 meets your needs....

One loader is a quick detach, and the other is fixed too, right?
The molded fender areas on the 1026 are black, and separate, and the ones on the 1023 are all molded as part of the fenders.

They both can take the 102ht (quick connect loader) and all the other inplements as well (from what the dealer tells me anyways). But they cant tell me whats different besides 3hp and a few "frillies". I Guess Im wondering if the "frillies and 3hp is worth an extrs 2K. If you guys think 3 hp is that much of a difference then I will hold off and wait for the 1026..
Ive never been a tractor owner so not sure if 3hp is that much. As gfar as frillies I dont reaaly see 2K worth I suppose. Any advise or opinions are appriciated

Hi fat kid.
My guess is,because there aren't anymore than that.
Spec sheet has them pretty much identical.

To answer; I really don't see how 3 ponies would make a noticeable difference. I think I may lose about 3 ponies when my air filters get dirty on my 2210 which leaves 20hp?? I would say the 1023 is still comparable to the original 2210 and I am quite satisfied with the 23 ponies my 2210 provides. The extras would be nice on the 1026 but ask yourself for what you plan to do with your new tractor what do you really need? Or not to confuse but if ya got the bucks why not have all the options just for braggin?

In looking them over, I didn't see a whole lot of important differences, but of course there are things that are "nice". The position control on the 3pt hitch is a good thing, but far less important on that size tractor than on say a 2520. Actually, I think that split brakes would be more handy to help steer when working in snow, or scraping with the loader, etc.. (let the flaming begin on that one)

After having a mower with cruise control and tilt wheel ( John Deere GX345), I don't think I want to go back to not having it. However, you would get used to the steering wheel position and if you wouldn't use the cruise control then don't worry about that either.
The 1026r is the only tractor in this class with position control on the 3 pt hitch and this is very helpful if you are planning on using a tiller or box blade. Being able to put the hitch in the same position every time is really nice.
Lots of 2305 owners have upgraded to the suspesion seat that the 1026r comes with also.
As someone that mows at night occasionally the extra lights are nice. Otherwise you can't see the edge of the mower deck when mowing around obstacals after dark.
I also listen to Pandora while I mow, so I could use the 12v outlet to plug my cell phone into, or use my portable satellite radio.

A little extra pto hp might come in handy running a tiller or wood chipper.

So, yes they are frills, but they are very desireable frills that I will find handy. You have to decide if they are needed or worth it to you

Very well stated.

If all you are going to do is short stints in the seat, doing light lawn mowing, the 23 would be fine.

If you plan to use the tractor as described above and extensive 3pt work the $2K would be peanuts.

If I could snap my fingers and gain options (frills) on my 2210 they would be tilt wheel, suspension seat, position control 3pt, better lights, ocassionally cruise control.

So were I buying, it'd be 1026 all the way.
