Well, on my 8N, it took me about 3 months to get it where it is. Much of that time was learning curve... Me finding a problem.. looking it up in the repair manual.. scratching my head, email this and other boards.. getting the answer.. then fixing it. Luckilly some of that info stuck!

This unit needed less mechanical repairs and 'send outs'.. I.e... I didn't have to send the genny out for repair, or wait to have a steering shaft fixed.. or wait to find rims and after market parts... or where to find the parts. This time, i new the vendors to call.. and what to do, or at least who to ask anyway. Learned what does and what doesn't work right out of the box... for instance.. those steering draglink end grease seals have to be hand fitted with a file in order to get on .. took me an hour to figure that out the first time....

Again.. lots of help came from this and other boards.. so i gotta say 'thanks' to all.

I think it has been something like 3-3.5 weeks... Funny enough.. I found this NAA at a dealer 30 mins. from my house.. and he took credit card... that's scarry... a used tractor dealer within driving distance of my house that takes plastic... sheesh... anyway.. I havn't got the credit card bill yet /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.. as I bought it on the first day of the new cycle.... so.. should be here any day now.. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Wow Chris, that's pretty impressive. You haven't had it that long have you? How long did it take to get this far? You call it a refurb, not a restoration. What was involved?

I better not show my wife, she'll have me refurbing her family tractor if I do /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

They both look great...At some point I would love to do over an old tractor. Convinced the wife to let me start out with an old lawn tractor as my first project!

I sent you a detailed long winded message, let me know if you don't get it receive it.

It actually wasn't too bad.. just out in the barn with the animals and the tractor.. and some classic radio stations..

It all starts somewhere.. I've already got my next project lined up.

Not a tractor.. but a dearborn 2 bottom plow of similar vintage to either of my old fords. Will look good hanging behind either one of them.

Won't get to work on it for a few weeks though, as I now need to get some work done WITH the tractors.. rather than ON them!

Soundguy, you've done a very nice job on both your tractors. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif On the Jubilee, did you change the hood emblem? On the trailer in your "before" picture, it looks different. I think I've posted my pictures before, but I'm attaching a picture of my restoration of my 1954 NAA. They are great little tractors. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wonderful job for only 3.5 weeks of work Soundguy!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif You must be real proud of those tractors.

Jinman, WHOA! talk about details /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. Looks like you did what we car nuts call a frame off restoration!! How much time did you invest in your "54"?. Tell me, is she a trailer Queen or does she get to play like Soundguys tractors?

Either way, great work and great examples of the difference between refurbed and restored. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nailerguy, I made 'er shiny, then worked 'er hiney. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
My Jubilee has been used for about 10 years since that set of photos and needs a little "facelift" and a few mechanical repairs, but it has been a strong ally in cleaning up my 33 acres. I hope to use it as my primary "mowing" tractor for many years to come.

Great work guys!

I need one of you to redo my Jubilee.....
It came with a small farm I recently bought. (Like the green & white?)

I'm in a quandry over what to do with it, having just got a L3830.

Time will tell. I just wish I could do what you all did......

Neil.
