No we're pretty old school. I do it the way my grandfather taught me to do it and he does it the way his father taught him. Funny but the "new" and better horsewhispering techniques have been around for hundreds of years. All most of these supposed "gurus" did was take it on the road.

Some farmers here for teaching young cattle to lead just tie em to the back of tractor by the halter and drag em around for a half hour, I suspect it is a bit more advanced for horses?

OK - I'll keep impatiently waiting... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif based on our PM's you can imagine I'm interested to see how you do it! We're waiting for our refinance to close, then we're going to be building our horse barn. Then our 3 girls come to roost at our place... then I'll finally be ready to get my own horse. In the meantime I've been enjoying going to their current digs and giving them some tlc. As I study horse ownership and training I can see that I've got a ton of learning to do.

Thanks again,

Richard,
Did you get the weather to cooperate? I checked photos and other areas but did not see anything....perhaps I missed it.

Steve, if Ray Hunt ever gets to your area it might be worth the price of admission (http://www.rayhunt.com/). IMHO Ray Hunt and Bryan Neubert (http://www.bryanneubert.com/)are the top 2 teachers out there today.

We got postponed and it is supposed to happen this sunday. My schedule has been a train wreck so it has been tough trying to get it done. Hopefully all will go well. BTW I spent countless hours with Ray Hunt. His ranch is by one of my grandfathers and they have been friends as long as I can remember.

Ray is one of the best. We have had my wifes current horse since he was a youngster. Sometime early in his three year old year he got beat up pretty bad by a shoer with a temper. As a result he would not take shoes at all. After a long time and a bunch of help/advice from other VERY popular clinicians we were no better off.

We finally found a clinic in our area with Ray and what a difference! Firm but gentle. Fair and disciplined. But beyond that he just has the drive, caring, wisdom and experience to do things we and these "Horse whisperer" types cant do.

You are lucky to have been able to spend time with someone like him. Those old time real horseman are tough to find and a joy to know. I think you learn a lot just from hanging around someone like that.

Bryan N is pretty darn talented (especially with those Mustangs and range ponies) but heck....if you can call Ray for help anytime you need then thats the way to go.

BTW.....any plans on attending Snaffle Bit this year?

I wish!! Most of my time anymore is spent hauling my girls to youth and junior rodeos. Hey did you see that Smart Chic Olena's stud fee went to $25,000. I have a drop dead gorgeous two year filly out of him. Glad I only had to pay $10,000.
