Just curious. I'm on the generation side and have done quite a bit of work in Fla. I was in Gainesville not too long ago installing a voltage regulator in one of the GRU plants. If my plans work out I'm going to retire in January.
That's where I retired from, it used to be a well run , well respected utility but unfortunately a liberal city commission ran it in the ground. Small world, I hope your plans work out , retirement can be a good thing, I was just afraid if I didn't start something else I would either not have enough on my farm to do and I didn't want to rust up.

I'm far from having it all figured out but I'm certain we will be okay. I may do a bit of side work for the company I work for now. One job each outage season would be good with me.

I worked for GRU for a little bit about 10 years ago, in W/WW. My neighbor still works for them. At bit off topic, but I've heard they are having a real problem retaining linemen, because they are lumping them in with W/WW and general public works employees; and giving like 2% raises, vs FPL/Duke/Clay Electric, and the Pike/Musgrove/other contractors, that aren't tied to the 'across the board' type pay adjustments.

Yeah, they have been struggling for quite some time now, I retired over 2 & 1/2 years ago and we always had a top notch training program but as fast as we could get them trained they would get a better job offer, several guys that I helped train came to me and asked what to do, I always told them do whatever is best for you and your family as there is very little loyalty with company's these days.

Today's work was a mowing job of a piece of property on the edge of a big Prarie that is full of huge old live oak trees, I cut this a couple of times every year for the owner, you really can't tell it but he uses it for a moto cross track and it is by far the roughest piece of property that I mow regularly, hope everyone has had a good week.

I bet the skid steer is the right tool for this job, because of the maneuverability around the trees.

Shocking before and after pics!!!
It really is a beautiful piece of property once it's cleaned up, I'm actually going to try some herbicide on a section of it and see if we can tame it a little and get some grass established.

Absolutely, I have mowed it with the tractor and bush hog but I can't trim up to the trees close because of the above ground roots.
