Mound clay bricks are used on the mound and at home plate in the high wear areas to keep the players from making big holes. The clay bricks are harder than soil, but not as hard as regular bricks or concrete.
There are several places that sell them.

Another infield renovation today. We added 2 loads of infield clay mix, then laser graded it, then tilled is and laser graded it again.

On this softball field, we added 60 yards of topsoil to try to reduce the steep elevation change in the outfield. We had done the same thing a couple years ago, but closer to the skinned area. After smoothing the new soil, I added some Bermuda seed. We have 5 days of rain starting today, so that should help the seed get going.

More lip removal yesterday at one of the largest private schools in the state which is in Baton Rouge. We were planning to do another field today, but decided to stay home and prepare for Francine.

Today I went fertilize the baseball field we sprigged on July 30. It usually takes about 90 days to grow in completely. Today is day 45. It’s about 70% covered now. I’m pleased with the progress.

Today we dumped 5 loads of mason sand then spread it with the blade on a baseball field. We did it with the blade instead

of the spreader because they had some small ripples in the outfield that we wanted to fill in.

Rebuilt another pitchers mound with clay bricks and lip removal today. This field is about 165 miles from me near the Mississippi state line. It’s about 2.5 hours drive if traffic isn’t too bad in Baton Rouge
