WOW! $4 an acre? We payed considerably more than that. We had looked at lakefront/lakeview lots, but with what they wanted for a one or two acre lot, we got our land for just a little more. We've got 15.75 acres in Edgemont, so we aren't very far from you. I'm looking forward to learning to fish for walleye. I also have a 16' Hobie Cat I've been anxious to get out on the lake, but I guess I'm gonna have to wait for next summer when it heats back up a bit. Here is a link to my website with some pictures of our land with a view from the top. You can't see it in the pictures, but standing where I took the lakeview shots, you can see the Narrows bridge in the distance. Our land at Greers Ferry lake
I love the lake and the land up there, but the best part of the place so far seems to be the people.

It's a 1955, 640. I've got to get my pole barn built so I can park her under something and get her out of the weather. I spent a great deal of yesterday afternoon reading the 38 page chronicle on Spence's pole barn building on another thread on TBN.
It's kind of funny I guess, but many of the guys I work with ride Harleys. I listen to them talking about riding their bikes, but in the back of my mind I'm thinking "man...I wish was over there riding on my tractor!" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Makes me wish I had a bigger one with an FEL, and all the bells and whistles. I don't know how you guys can afford them! Is there a secret????
Trying to avoid another monthly bill. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

It is some what restored. She runs like a top, but the paint job isn't really well done. I did put that new bumper on it this past weekend, so that may give the appearance that is restored. And I would definitely like to take the time to fix her up right.
I knew I should have taken more pics of it, but it was drizzling rain, and as I had...ummm...errr.... left the key back home in Southaven...
I had gone over for the weekend to haul my bush hog over. My step dads birthday was this week, so the wife and I asked him and my mom to go with us and stay in a cabin nearby so they could see the land, and we could drop off the bush hog. It rained off and on all weekend on us. I had purchased a PTO overun clutch for it and was anxious to get it all hooked up and just spin up the bush hog to see how it was gonna do. Well, I was guessing that a small ford tractor would need the small PTO clutch (1 1/8') when I bought it right before our trip over. WRONG! It has the larger diameter PTO shaft.
So we get over and I try the clutch, doesn't fit. Oh well..I'll just crank her up and let her run a bit. Put the rotor back on, about to install the battery....where's the key??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif YIKES. So I just covered her back up. When I came back over from the cabin with the camera, it was drizzling, and too much trouble to uncover again to snap a few pics. I did want to get some kind of picture up on here to show her off. The next time I go over, I will definitley take more pictures of the tractor and post them asap.

Nice creek, looks like a lot of fall in them woods!

I have something a similar: though this year it has ran constantly all year. it did dry up last fall even with all the rain. so this year I took the back hoetractor and made many small pools to help SLOW the water and helpped the frogs like you wouldn't belive! the skeeters last year would carry you away this year they were hardly any left the frogs & sallimanders think took care of a lot of them. the pools I have are only a few inches to a foot or two deep at most and usually only the width of the creek with stone/gravel dams. yes they washed out once but they were easy to put in with the FEL & HOE combo. I can now drive pretty much 80% of the creek bottom if PRESSED to but usually only travers 20% or less. i've taken out 20+ ton of run and dumpped it into the barn base (need 30" of fill on one corner! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif getting RAMPS into and out of the creek was hardest part but the creek bottom is pretty much bedrock with a few " of broken sand stone/sand mix. also a few limbs to pick out from dead fall.

anyhow most of my rocks are SMALL compaired to you'res!!! you will need soemthign with tracks on to do what I did I belive. keepign the area cleaned up is not all that hard once it is done but weed groth an become a problem if too much light gets down into the bottom. mine actuallygrows a bit of MOSS along the bridge I have as I backed up the water almost 20" deep punder it and keep that area OPEN to the sun to keep the brigde wood DRY.

Anyhow looks GREAT keep the photos posting

Thanks again Rough and Spiker. I think I may arrange a few rocks in the dozed area, then let nature take care of the rest. We don't have a lot of mosquitos over there. I don't really know why, but I'm thankful that we don't. However, we more than make up for it with the ticks & chiggers!

I made a quick pass through the Ozarks one time and I always wanted to go back and spend some time in that area as well as Arkansas. From what I have read about these area's and a few people I have talked to it reminds me of the Appalachia area,a rural countryside, laid back friendly country people.
