Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Pictures of your snow weapons

When I had an open station tractor, I looked into the whole snowmobile outfit...head to toe. Even priced some of the heated suits. Rather expensive, but a lot cheaper than a cab tractor.

Snowmobile outfits are too cumbersome (for me) to move around in.
Slip on the army-surplus wool pants, a hunting insulated hoodie, leather mittens with wool liners, and the snowmobile helmet... good to go for plowing in the wind at below zero temps.
No snowmobile, so the helmet was the only investment that didn't already have in the closet. If it wasn't for fair amount of tractor work in the woods, I'd have a cab tractor. But AC would be a must-have.. :D

I have a cab (as you probably know), but no AC as it's an aftermarket cab. I remove the doors in warmer weather...

I use a sheepskin hat, LLBean Baxter down parka rated to 40 below, thinsulate gloves with liners and leather chaps against the wind. It works but I have to work in some hand warmers! 8F yesterday while I was clearing from this past 14" snow storm.

For wind protection (without a cab), a snowmobile helmet works great. (IMO)

I tried a helmet a couple times, but the shield fogged up - not going fast enough to vent it. I think you'd need one with a heated shield. I went to a cabbed tractor instead.

I know my radio ear muff keep my ears happy regardless of the temps, clear safety glasses & the beard takes care of the rest.:D

I read somewhere that balding men had a better chance of having great beard genes. I'm only 34, losing my hair so I shave my head and my "beard" is patchy. I got the short end of the stick!

/first world problem

So full face gear for me haha!

I've been wearing my snowmobile pants and my helmet as long as this subzero wind and temps continue. The shield does fog up at times but I just raise it for awhile. Those toe and hand warmers are nice too. :jump:

When I go ice fishing, I usually were a pair of thin silk long john top and bottom, a T-shirt, thin sweatshirt, flannel lined jeans, a hoody. One pair of thick socks. Then my carhart coveralls. For footwear, if its over 10F, I just wear my sketcher waterproof hikers. If its 10F or under, I'll switch to some snowmobile boots with removable felt liners. I'll slip a carhart jacket over it all if I'm sitting outside for more than 4-5 hours. But a good knit hat and some fingerless gloves and I'm all set. I'll throw on some welder's mittens if the wind is blowing. I'm fortunate that I really don't get cold all that easy. I tend to grow out a bear in winter. I keep it short, but long enough to hold my face mask off my skin. I think it ads a small layer of dead airspace and really makes a difference.

Here is a pic of my snow weapon. Craftsman 2 stage snow blower, 9 HP, 29 cut. Bought it about 2002 or so.

Got tired of the snow in the face so added a cab from Lowe痴. Been pretty much trouble free.

Due to the mild winters we were having in Ohio, this is the first time I have used it for about 3 years
