We got 19" in the valley I live in, while surrounding areas got up to 30". The rear blade helps, but I'm seriously considering a front blade for my GC2600 (mainly because it would work in dirt too unlike a blower, and our 5-yr plan is a house with more property in another state). After helping clear out 2 other people's driveways where I had to scoop and dump (unable to push) I'm torn between the MF dozer blade (or adapting some other plow) or trying to make a light material bucket that's larger. I made one out of wood mainly to cut cleaning out the goat pen from 10-12 bucket loads down to 3-4. I've found it works well with the snow, but it's wood so I have to keep rebuilding it. Would love to find a larger bucket that would work with minimal modifications.

Tractor tire snow pusher lol, you can buy one or build one fairly easy, some use two tires that spread the snow like a V plow, others use a tractor tire cut in half and use that to push snow.

Something cheap and easy, I feel it won't be as good as a front blade.

Re: Pictures of your snow weapons, storm of 3-14-17

We got 36+ inches in about 12 hours. The local weather guy said it was coming down at a rate of 4" an hour a few times during the day. Went out twice to clear most of the white stuff. Even today I'm cleaning up some small snow to get ready for this weekends snow prediction.

Tony- Are you getting used to the V-plow on FEL? Pretty great, eh?

hmmmmm That's a thought. I do have 1 extra tractor tire sitting around unused. It wouldn't be much bigger than the existing bucket though. Looking into that now I remember seeing people use corrugated pipe as well.

Grsthegreat, how hard is it to remove and install the hydraulic power pack? Does it have quick disconnects so a portion of the hoses stays on the tractor?

I really like your blower setup.

its about an hour and a half ordeal. there are quick disconnects front and rear but i doint want to leave hoses on all summer. there are 2 large hoses run between blower and power pack and one electrical control. the time includes mounting the hydraulic pump and powerpack. once mounted it only takes a few minutes to swap between blower and plow or bucket.

it actually takes longer to mount chains than to mount the hydraulic system.

and they got a work out this season. i still have nearly 3 feet of snow on ground. but its now in the 40-50F temps so it wont last long now.

That's funny because we got another 5" of snow today. Of course it was followed by sleet and then rain so not much left.

The are in front of my equipment building (Front of House) was an old horse rink . I made it a bit bigger and graveled it. I plow it to keep equipment building open and get to chicken coop. The area down and around the house a was blast rock mountain at one point. I keep the back open to get at the horse staying in the "Cow Camp" and to get at the firewood. Of course, the wife wants the current horse paddock open also.
I probably plow an acre of snow.

Just read through your project. You have a beautiful place there. From the hard work you put in, do you ever feel like you should have picked a different place to have your farm? Here is to many more years at your farm and I know there will be other spin off projects to come. Jon

Just a few things I's recommend to anyone thinking of this lifestyle.

You give up a lot.

You get a lot out of it.

If you can din't start from scratch like us, Take over an old place, if you must, tear down and rebuild, but at least the land is not raw.

Don't think of trying this if you are not in good heath and young feeling. I'd never be able to tackle this again. So if this is something your thinking about doing retiring, retire early! (I still have day job.)
