Time to learn how to double clutch or float the gears, either one works.

Yeah. As it stands I can't keep it rolling/moving long enough to shift. Partially me, partially the truck. Shifter is so so so sloppy.

Around here though, I'd bet more than half the people know how to use a clutch. I learned on a tractor. Haha. Good job Farmall A...

All this talk makes me want to get into working on it. Dunno about my employment situation though. Contract position comes due in a couple weeks. Rrrg.

Another upgrade installed for snow removal.

Ordered a new Permanent Magnet Gear Reduction starter for my tractor that will get the Inverted snow blower.

Have done this for some cars and even my Volvo boat engine.

If there is a PMGR starter available for folks who have older diesel tractors and wanting improved starting due to much increased cranking speed they just can't be beat.

The starter for the Rhino had to be ordered from China and was very reasonable at under $90 bucks, it was the shipping that was a killer though at $168 + ~$50 for a fee UPS had to pay.

Anyway if your tractor has an old style starter, marginal cold weather cranking speed and a PMGR starter is available, imo well worth the money to have a better starting diesel.

Never been an issue here no matter how cold it gets. Good starting batteries, clean connections in the starter circuit as well as the glow plug circuit and of course the right weight synthetic oil in the sump.

Well, Glad you have excellent cold starting diesels

I should add that if your tractor was built in the last 20 years there is a pretty good chance your tractor Already has a PMGR starter. In that case Not much to be gained.
The starter I just replaced is 30 years old and direct drive. Its cranking speed was marginal in cold weather.
It also lives outside and has not had a roof over its head, (working on changing that this year) so it is usually covered in snow when it is time to move snow.
Plan on replacing the starter on the Ford 550 TLB as well since PMGR starters are available for it as well.

I replaced the old direct drive starter on my IH 574 this spring with a new gear reduction starter and new cables,
does start much better then it ever has.
I've been a fan of the gear reduction starters for a long time also.

Put the JD X 500 mower away.

Did some service on the Rhino tractor fixing a burned out headlight weak ground for the lights, exchanged the 30 year old mechanical voltage regulator which was charging at 13,2 volts to a new electronic $15 1970 Chrysler car replacement now charges at 14.1 volts.
As posted above, Updated the starter with a gear reduction unit.

Still waiting on the 84" Inverted 3 point snow blower and also need to change the oil and filter 15w -40 to T6 5w-40 and wash out the stainless steel mesh oil bath air cleaner plus add a large canister hydraulic filter to the FEL hydraulic pump instead of the small mesh filter it came with.

One step at a time, one foot in front of the other and it will get done.

Weather channel showing snow by the middle of the week, but even if we get it it will not likely stick
yet...

1st plowing of 22-23 season today. Slushy and snowman snow, while curling turf. Worst of conditions, but we got 10 inches of wet stuff.

Yuck.

You can keep that stuff on your side. We had about 40° and rain today.

We are behind on both rain and snow here. Been in the 50's and 60's mostly. Not a flake yet. Very unusual. That 10" of slop doesn't look to good though.
