i just bought a 3pt aerator and had to do a little fab once I unpacked it and the pins were factory set to the inside of the frame, also when I bought a used disc it was set up the same way. both implements were king kutter brand. it would be no problem to change them to the outside but are their any advantages/disadvantages either way or is this a brand specific thing? thanks in advance for any feedback.

I think they are packed that way for shipping so they don't poke anything or get knocked off or bent. All the cat1 pins on my implements face out. Regards, Mike

Ditto. They are packed and shipped that way. They should face out if it is a category 1 implement.

Only time pins get turned in on occasion is when improvising and using a category 2 implement for category 1, since cat 2 spacing is 32" and cat 1 is 26". Cat 1 arms dont like going 32" wide.

Cat 1 pins often are turned inside for use on Cat 1-limited, narrow garden tractors. They have the Cat 1 pin size (rather than Cat 0) but the lift arms don't have the span and range of full Cat 1

How about a simple answer...whatever works.

It makes no difference from a mechanical standpoint which direction the pins face.

Actually it does on Cat1-limited. The arms often hit the tires when the pins are set outward.

A "mechanical standpoint" would mean the physics of the 3PH lifting abilities, lowering, drawing, hook-up, and the like.

A physical issue would be hitting the tires. That is why the first statement was "whatever works" to emphasize that what may work on one tractor may not work on another.
