Guys, I appreciate all the comments and thoughts. I'm still undecided. I plan to get a pickup within the next 6 - 12 months, but I've got tractors and a mower to move around in the meantime.

I really like the 16' single axle tilt trailer, but a 16' tandem with a dovetail would work. I need the low angle provided by a dovetail or tilt trailer because the backhoe on the BX23 sits really low to the ground, and the ZTR does too. A tilt trailer makes loading and unloading so easy.

If I get a trailer that weighs 2,000 pounds, that still gives me up to 3,000 pounds of towing capacity, which is enough at this time. I just don't want to skate too close to the limits with the 4Runner since it wasn't designed to handle heavy towing. I don't want to be replacing a transmission because I pushed it too hard.

I like the looks of that trailer. Everything I haul is too heavy for it I need tandem 7k's at a minimum. If I was looking for a 7k rated trailer I would have no issues at all buying that one. I would just make sure to put good tires on it. Almost any brand of trailer you buy comes with the cheapest tires they can find. We used to have a lot of blowouts using the cheap trailer tires that came with the trailers. Since we switched to good tires we have not had a blowout in over a year. The good thing for you is you only need two of them and not four. I would ask them what it would cost to upgrade to 17.5's on it. Those tires seem to last for ever. I have had them on several trailers loaded heavy since 2013 and have never had one fail.

One comment I would make is based on how the trailers are stored and moved around during storage. A single axle with a wheel under the tongue jack can be moved around on concrete by hand. But a tandem axle with a tongue jack wheel is about impossible to move around. Unless it balances on one axle. On my 12 ft tandem axle trailer, it will balance on the front axle with the tongue off the ground and the rear axle just barely touching the ground. I can move it in the building by hand and get t close to the side wall. The 16ft tandem, is darn impossible to move, It will not balance on one axle, but if the tongue is way high, I can move it with much effort. Does this matter to the OP, don't know. Just something I have observed. Jon

I totally agree and one of the main reasons I bought the PJ. Second is the 16 E load tires. the ability to run 70 mph when it is 100 degrees outside is worth it to me. If OEM tires fail I will replace with Mitchelin E loads.

I guess I should have updated this thread. I decided to buy the PJ 16' single axle tilt trailer. I realize that it may have some limitations vs. a dual axle trailer, but it was exactly what I needed. I needed to:

1. haul BX-sized tractors and a zero turn mower;
2. be able to easily load and unload without dragging a mower deck or backhoe subframe due to the load angle;
3. stay under a total weight of 5,000 pounds (trailer plus load) to avoid having to use a weight distributing hitch; and
4. be 16' (because I don't have any place to park anything longer than that).

The PJ was the only trailer that met all those requirements. So far I've been really happy with it and it has performed great for my needs.

If/when I get to the point that I need more trailer than this 16' single axle tilt, I'll probably go with something like what you have. I'm already a big believer in tilt trailers after using this one a while.

One of my long term projects is to put a swing up jack foot or spring loaded wheel on my T1. I already have 5000 lb wheel with brake but it is heavy around 35 lb. Any ideas of others who have done this I would love to hear them.
