Hey George...

Not to make you any more paranoid...but if you are slow, and lay any sheets of roofing tin for your new shed out under the trees...the tax man may see it and you can start paying your taxes on the shed before it's built....(not to stir the pot any more)...we can use a little more of your tax money...

The tax man will tax anything he can get away with. One of my Florida neighbors had a work float for his sailboat. One year it ended up on the tax rolls as a floating dock. :p He was some kind of p***ed.

Let me tell you how it will be;
There's one for you, nineteen for me.
'Cause I'm the taxman,
Yeah, I'm the taxman.

Should five per cent appear too small,
Be thankful I don't take it all.
'Cause I'm the taxman,
Yeah, I'm the taxman.

(if you drive a car, I'll tax the street;
(if you try to sit, sit, I'll tax your seat;
(if you get too cold, I'll tax the heat;
(if you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.

Taxman!

'Cause I'm the taxman,
Yeah, I'm the taxman.

Don't ask me what I want it for, (ah-ah, mister Wilson)
If you don't want to pay some more. (ah-ah, mister heath)
'Cause I'm the taxman,
Yeah, I'm the taxman.

Now my advice for those who die, (taxman)
Declare the pennies on your eyes. (taxman)
'Cause I'm the taxman,
Yeah, I'm the taxman.

And you're working for no one but me.

Taxman!

Pretty good insight into the world of progressive tax rates from a 20-some year old George Harrison.

Pretty good insight for a band considered to be very liberal in their views....at least later in life. However, it is my understanding that the taxes on British rock and roll bands were astronomical (as were their incomes) and in many cases the taxes could not be collected (or at least enforced) if the band remained out of the country for some extended period of time. I recall hearing how homesick some of these bands would get because they were not only on the road playing a lot, but could not go back home for tax reasons. So even at a tender age of 20 Harrison may have felt the pains of high taxes.

(Still, hard to feel sorry for a rock star!)

It is my understanding that taxes drove the Stones to relocate to the south of France.

It's pretty sad when you have to go to the Socialist Republic of FRANCE to get away from high taxes!:D

Led Zeppelin just stayed in the US.
