I am almost finished building a pulverizer and I swore to myself that I would never weld that many spikes ever again. Even though I have a P.C. I think I will pass on building the table.

What about making one with 1/8 flat bar on its edge. Thats how my torch table works. Or you could get a drill a new drill bit,or a well ground one to drill holes in a peice of tubing. Then slide the spikes down through it and tack weld them at the bottom. I made a table like that for a plating shop that had to hold up sheet metal for plating. thats how i did it by drilling the holes in tubing. tack the spikes at the top and at the bottom and theyll almost never slip out. One of our fab shops at work has a Vulcan PC. The cutter is controlled by a computer, and there are two sections of table that take full pieces of sheet steel. The cutter travels between the two tables so the operator can remove cut pieces and reload the one while the cutter burns out shapes on the other. The tables on it look like the steel grating used on catwalks. They cut an awful amount of sheet metal on it, and I think the grate is at least 10 years old................chim

I own a Vicon Plasma table for cutting flat sheets of sheet metal. I have had it now two years and we just love the thing. It was expensive but I can cut fittings faster than anyone can even lay out a pattern. 60g's but well worth it. We can only put one sheet on it at a time but I am seriously thinking about buying the roll sheet option for it.

$60g's? That's it? Maybe I'll buy 4 of them and line them up to make one big table. Hey guys I'm selling plasma tables for half price - ONLY $30,000!/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I take it this table is an automated computer controlled plasma cutting table?
The grating sounds like a good idea that would take 1/10th the time. I was concerned about the pc cutting the grating. Maybe I'll do a test.

Yes it is a computer automated table. It is my understanding, that the table runs about 30G's. Some guy out there has a patent on the software for it. No mattter what brand of table we would have bought, this guy gets paid for the software. So the software runs 30G's also. It does have all the fittings pre drawn in it that we would ever use. The table has more than paid for itself. If I had my camera I would take a picture of it and post.

The grading does get cut. It is not a bad cut and the grading should last over 3 years and then we can just flip them over. After they have been flipped once you then have to replace. You can actually make the replacements yourself.
