Plastic Fence Posts???

Hi all,

I recently put in about 2500' of high-tensile fence, using treated wood for the corners/ends and the dip/rise posts, but plastic line posts. I found the used plastic posts through a local paper (Farm and Dairy - oh man, what a paper), and am just about out. They were from a farm in eastern Ohio.

The used posts were black, 3" diameter, with a small point on one end (not really necessary, as the neighbor lent me an auger for the JD), and about 7 1/2' long. I got about 100 of them for $300. I was very happy with that deal.

Anyhow, now I'm looking for more. Online, I've seen new 3" x 8' posts for $8 each. Anybody have a source for these for less $'s?

Can't help you on locating a supplier.
But my neighbor, an AT&T lineman, sees plastic fencing a lot on his job, a lot of it burned down (grass fires).

Ouch - never thought of that one. Where there's wildfires, maybe not a good idea.

Around here (Pittsburgh), our perpetually gloomy weather at least saves us from most grass fires except during droughts. A silver lining, I suppose.
