Hello all

Question for you Guys & Gals ~ about 6 years ago I put a fence up on the one side of my property with a post made up of recycled plastic (black). The post is solid plastic, 6" around & 8' long. I now need to put some more up but the company I got it from no longer caries it & does not know where to get it.
My question is: Anyone know where to find these posts again? As these are the best fence posts I have ever used!!

Thanks

Tracy

I can't help you because I have never heard of solid plastic fence posts. But, I want to learn more about them so I'll be watching this thread.
Thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention.

I just did a google search and came up with 504,000 replies to Recycled plastic fence post. They even had landscape timbers on 2 of the links I tried.

OK All

I have been searching everywhere & calling I can not find the fence post I bought a few years ago. I did find one company that would make them - but at $80.00 each I took a pass.

I did find this place ~ Palladium Wood Products - Environmentally-safe treated lumber ~ looks OK price but is up there at $22.00 each for a 4X4X8 & $20.00 each for 4X4X7. I do not mind paying more if it lasts!!

Here is my question about ideas I am through out there. So please through out any you have & shoot mine down if you have a reason to. To start off I have heavy black clay soil with some white calichie (spelled right?) rock in some areas. I am going to put up 4' twisted horse no climb fence. I want to space the posts @ 10' intervols. I know some of you will say just use T posts, but the boss (wife) say no T post so this is not an important issue to pick a fight about.

I want to get some 4X4X8 (I can get them for just under $5.00 each around here). Dig my hole to 3' deep, Use tar or a plastic type paint to paint the posts 3.5-4' up from the bottom the set the posts in concrete.

How does it sound?

Sounds good to me. Sure ought to be plenty strong. If it is treated wood I would not thinki t necessary to paint the bottom. 3ft deep on every post sue seems like a lot of work to me. maybe just for corners and gates.

One thing I saw done (and looked nice) was to use 4"x4" square pvc "downspouts" ... set AND filled with concrete.

The posts I saw got predrilled for bolts and then the 3 rail was simply bolted to the posts (I think on 10' centers) ...

The white PVC posts seemed to take the UV very well to.

I found in some older info "EVERWOOD Posts-The Last Post", manufactured from recycled plastic containers, they are black or gray in color. They are 5" dia x 8' long, can be cut, stapled, and nailed in the usual ways. The prices I have are 7'- $10.50, 8'- $11.50, 10'- $15.60, 12'- $18.10...now this is OLD info so I assume that prices have gone up.

The distributor is Maverick Farms- Rick Chapman- Warsaw, OH (740) 327-6533.

Hope this helps and Good Luck!
