Tractor
CX2510
I have been looking at a 2011 John Deere 2320 Tractor w/200CX Loader (75hrs) for $12500 for a while now and yesterday was about to pull the trigger.

Looking on craigslist yesterday I found a 2007 John Deere 3320 Tractor w/300CX Loader (700 hrs) and the seller has agreed to the same price of $12500.

Should I jump on the 3320 with more hrs or is this tractor significantly larger compared to what I need. I own about 3 acres while my sisters own the surrounding 80+ which include 3 rental properties. The 80+ acres is contracted out to another guy to farm for tax reasons. I do plan on taking several trees down in the next few years and clearing overgrown trees around a pond on the property. I hope to build a shooting range and one day farm about 1 acre for myself and family.

I'm wondering if the 3320 will generate more cost for repairs, implements and general usage.

Are 700 hrs much for a 2007 or possibly getting to a point issues might come up?

For your listed uses, the 3320 would be my choice. It will cost more to operate than a 2330 but the weight and traction difference is substantial, both of which is needed for tree and ground work.

While a few more details might be helpful - based on what you have provided - the 3320 sounds like the way to go. Don't be afraid of 700 hours. I cannot comment on NC pricing.

3 acres is small for a 3320 but 83 acres is huge for either tractor. Remember either tractor is not an earth mover for creating berms for your shooting range.

For hours, remember the warranty is 2000hrs, so the life expectancy must multiples of the warranty period. But do expect some normal repairs.

Good luck in your purchase and have fun.

The 2320 is a very capable tractor. Small enough to fit in tighter quarters but its also has its limitations.

I have a 2320 and I love it, for the most part. We have moved a ton of dirt and rock with it on our Kansas property. It is small enough to mow really well around trees, turns pretty small radius, lots of power in the 200cx scoop.

Two negatives however:

1. When cutting grass with our 62d belly deck, even if not that tall, the 2320's air intake cooling vents get clogged very often. It can be quite annoyong to have to remove grass so much.
2. The 2320 has the dreaded inaccessible driveshaft u-joint problem. (Maybe other models do too, I dont know)
