Hey,
well guys I've fallen victim too the dreaded toolcat drive motor issue. Now I'm trying to get them replaced for free. My dealer seems to be not very familiar with this being a common problem. I have a 2005 non turbo the back motor is completely gone and front is close behind.. Their telling me it's it's only a certain motor that went bad and if mine ends up being that one there gonna replace them, however if it's not there kinda insinuating that I'm on my own and it seems like there hoping that too. What I need is some ammunition to take to these guys and show them this really isnit an isolated problem in a couple machines.. Does anyone have any suggestions for me.. Please help me guys I've just signed a 30 yr motgage and believe me I dint have 5-7000$ sittin around to fix this thing.. I'm in the st. Louis area if anyone is familiar with this areas service I would like too hear about it.. Thanks alot and any and all information will be very helpful to build some kinda case with this.
Thanks again
Nick

2nd mortagage to fix the TC? Just kidding. You are probably at their mercy. BC has a good idea of what units had the bad drive motors. Hopefully yours is one of those.

Yeah I hope BC knows which ones are affected. I'm just hoping to find out for myself in vase they just say "yeah sorry yours ain't included too bad" I need to be able to show some evidence.. Thing is these motors can be probably rebuilt for a tenth of what the dealers gonna want to charge me.. Anyone else have any info. Hopefully helpful info..

Nick,
Look over some of my post on this subject, I had my share of problems, then BC came through for me. I called Bobcat customer service first to establish a problem report which they then called the area rep to inform him that it was comming. Did you cut open your case drain filter (the one by the battery)? Mine was pretty full of brass chunks from the motor piston assembly.

Good Luck

Well they fixed them 2 new drive motors.. Now my next question. If I have the front bucket down with the front wheels off the ground my rear wheels will not push me forward? Also when I hit the locking diff button it just lights while pressed down if I let go it's not lit? What's you guys thoughts on this?

Both sound normal. You won't get the most work out of the machine pushing the bucket down so hard it lifts the front tires. The diff lock is a temporary mode which works only during the time you have that button pressed down. BTW I'm not sure but I believe that mode is only possible when four wheel steering is turned off.

Well I usually lift the wheels a little when I'm back dragging rock in a backhoe. I found that if I start with the wheels down and get goin I can lift them a little better when movin. Basically the 4wd is a joke on the toolcat if you ask me. And I'm ready to get rid of mine. And having to hold a button for diff lock is rediculous I have to say I'm more and more unhappy with the toolcat daily
