John Deere 755
Well, just as I was about to buy a new Kubota BX2200, I found and purchased a used 755. It is a 1992 model with 860 hours, 2WD, HST, and a 60"MMM. It is in good mechanical condition, with just a few cosmetic things to touch up. Here are my questions. First, it did not come with any manuals. Can someone recommend what and where to buy? Second, can anyone recommend any immediate maintenance procedures I should perform? Third, can anyone tell me the hp for this model? I have seen/read anything from 20hp to 23hp. Is it on the motor somewhere? Is there a web site to find out specs for a 1992 JD755? Thanks in advance.

If you go to the John Deere web site there is a place for you to order or even download manuals for most of their tractors.

www.johndeere.com

If you select any of their new tractors to view you will find a place called manuals. Once you click on there you will find a spot to get manuals for all products.

If you have trouble let me know. I will try and help you further.

TJC,

I decided to go the web page for you. I found a bunch of manuals but could not find one for your tractor. However, here is a toll free number to call and get any manual.

1-800-522-7448

I believe there will be a charge for it.

Congratulations on your purchase! May years of satisfying tractoring be yours. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Your JD dealer is the place to start. They should be able to direct you to where to buy manuals.
Owners Manual # is OMM92614 H9 is for serial no. up to 099999.
OMM95303 for newer.

JD 755 is 20hp, 15hp @ PTO.

There may be nothing that requires immediate maintenance.
However, at 11 years old and 870hrs. I would consider doing "everything" in the maintenance portion once your new operator's manual arrives. It's a fresh beginning and you'll have a starting point for future maintenance.

By the way, years ago I borrowed a friend's 755 to move a dump truck load of dirt. I was very impressed. "Work" was never so much fun.

OkieG,

not to change the subject but

I've been meaning to ask you about your backhoe for your 855. what model are you using and did you buy it new, used or did it come with your machine? I'm looking into getting one for my 855 and need a starting point. I also noticed that you are formally a Great Northwesterner. It's still beautiful out here.

Try eBay for your JD 755 tractor manuals. Just do a search for John Deere 755 and see what comes up. Will probably be a lot cheaper than buying direct from JD.

Hi Ken,
Once a tractor is no longer in production, I don't think JD continues to print manuals. I believe there are printing companies that make a living just reprinting out of date manuals. The dealer can still steer TJC to where he can buy one, if eBay doesn't work out.

They definitely are expensive, but I figure the cost can be made up the first time you use them for something that might have meant a trip to the dealer otherwise.

According to JDParts, both manuals mentioned above can be purchased for under $20 each, which ever one he needs.

The 800 number that I posted above is a number to John Deere for ordering manuals. That is your best bet. Yes there probably is a charge for it.

Thanks everyone. I ordered the Owner's Manual and the Tech Manual from the John Deere 800 number today. You were right. The Owner's Manual was cheap ($18), but they are proud of the Tech Manual ($76). I figured it will pay for itself after a few repairs. Can anyone tell me how I could find the FEL for the 755. Should I buy it from Deere, or is there a good/cheaper after market FEL?
