there are no other ports on the casting...the only other openings I am not sure about are the two caps on the top of the valve body they are down flat on the face of the body between the working ports...?

Those are load check plugs.

Is there any reason that /pine can not take the sleeve out of the PB, and use that as the tank port.

I think you could for an open center system, but not a closed center.

even though the only port on the outlet side of the valve is machined into the well marked as "BYD" (there is no other port) I see no internal plug or sleeve...

I see no reason this valve shouldn't meet my needs (T&T)...but if I want a third remote at the rear I will have to plumb it with a single spool w/PB before the valve in question...

just curious...is there any possibility that one of the return line ports would have been "T"eed and returned to tank?

It looks like a sleeve fitting to me. Take it out and see if it looks anything like this.

It could just be a reducer fitting.

Try and see if you can blow air through the valve. Then see if air can be blown through each of the work ports, to exit out the hole marked PBY.

If it's open then I think /pine could just remove the sleeve, plug or whatever is in the power beyond port and use it as the out port to the tank like JJ suggested.
